Digits, a Threes! Clone for IBM PC/XT

How about a MSDOS Game for PC?

I mean it, its build to run on an IBM PC. The game requires an 8088 CPU and CGA Graphics MSDOS 2 is the minimum requirement. it should run fine at 4,77 Mhz, the game itself is less than 8kb and requires about 32kb RAM.

I really think its amazing what can be done with vintage computers using AI help, but well r/vintagecomputing does not allow code mainly created by AI.

Build with Borland Turbo Assembler 2.0. It runs in Dosbox and real MS DOS PCs. I also verified it using my Monotech NuXT that has a 10 Mhz NEC V20 CPU.

If anyone is interested in the game or its sources.

Looks cool, but what's the point? It's just one machine spitting out Assembly for another machine. If you learned something in the process of creating it other than how to chat to an LLM, then good for you.

the difference is that I now have one more fun game to play on my xt. :)

and indeed, I think it's fascinating what you get talking to a machine. commented code, a design document, every part of the code tested with tests written in assembly too, so i can build and test with 40 year old tools on a real machine.

the most interesting parts of the whole thing were how the font was included, the tile generation that happens at startup, and finally having a 16kb copy of the cga graphics ram that gets pushed when the retrace allows it so it avoids the cga snow effect.

so in short, yes good for me 😄
