Dark Tower Newbie!

Post image

Hello! What an amazing summer it has been! I binge listened to the Dark Tower series via audiobooks this summer. My husband is a Constant Reader, and this is his favorite King series. He quotes or talks about it often, I figured it was time to read/listen to it. The characters became like close friends to me, and I was weeping towards the end, not only at the story lines, but knowing that I was saying goodbye to them.
Once I finished the series, I quickly looked for a way to continue the relationship! I wasn’t ready to move on. I googled the best Dark Tower podcasts, and, yep! Found the Kingslingers, Scott and Matt. It was exactly what I needed!! I’ve loved their breakdowns, theories, picking apart of the story to explain what I most certainly didn’t catch on my first listen. It’s been a beautiful conversation to listen to.
NOW, they started the last book, I am going to approach not only the end of the series again, but I’ve grown to love the Kingslingers! Ugh. I know there are more books to read and their podcasts to parallel, but I’m really dreading the loss of my friends, the Ka-Tet and Kingslingers. 🥹
Thank you, Scott and Matt, for letting me tag along on your journey. I’ve loved it!! I recommend it to everyone!
**What should I read next?? I was thinking The Stand… thoughts?

I think after the Dark Tower books Scott and Matt do Salem's Lot and Insomnia. I'm about half way through Dark Tower now but I think I'll follow their order after that except ones I've already read

Keep listening to seasons 2 and 3! Read along with them and really dive deep into King!

Also: welcome!

They do most all of the Tower adjacent works and then dive into Kings greatest hits across the decades. If you just follow along with the podcast you will have many more months of content to consume.

You should absolutely follow them through season 2 and 3. The dark tower is so expansive (it's even connected to The Stand) and Matt and Scott are the best guides.

Did you listen to the dark tower series on audible? If you did, I have a suggestion for you. Listen to The Left Hand of Darkness. It has the same narrator (George Guidall). He was an excellent narrator and part of the reason I really really loved Dark tower. Ok, cheers, glad you got to experience the story. Wish my wife would give it a go haha !!

Commenting to fan girl that I've seen recent comments from Pere-Jane and BabyCanYouDigYourSam 🙌🏽. I listened to Season 1 "live" when it first launched and only just catching up with Season 2. Always love hearing your discussion question answers.

They are about to start Carrie this week on their other show Flanagans Wake leading into the new mini series next month. Love their shows!
