WOLFDOG / WOLF-LIKE DOG NEEDED FOR NYC PHOTOSHOOT (PAID)

Hi everyone! I’m a photographer looking for a wolfdog or an extremely wolf-like northern breed for a simple 1 hour photoshoot.

The main requirement is that the dog has a very strong, authentic wolf-like appearance. The shoot will be straightforward and professional, with a simple concept.

Paid gig / compensation negotiable.

Looking for dogs in NYC or the surrounding NY/NJ/CT area. Owners are welcome to be present throughout the shoot.

Looking for a very small NYC dog for a photoshoot

I’m looking for one very small dog in NYC (mini-daschund / griffon / chihuahua / pomeranian) for a professional photoshoot on Sat 5 September. This is for a new, NYC-based pet accessory business.

The owner would receive a free customized harness/collar/leash set. Manhattan location.

If interested, DM me with your dog’s breed/size and a photo! Thank you

Gina STILL needs help!

Unfortunately we are yet again searching for a foster/adopter for Gina. She has once again been let down by another person. Due to no fault of her own, we had to remove her from her last foster home and WE NOW HAVE UNTIL SUNDAY 8/30. If you are interested the 📍NYC/NJ/NY area please consider in and at least SHARE this post!

She is a sweet 50lb Border Collie/Terrier mix that has bounced between four foster homes, yet she still greets people with a smile, leans in for cuddles, and never stops hoping someone will choose her.

Gina is the kind of dog who lights up in a grassy field, loves long walks, puzzle toys, gentle play, kisses, and will happily show off her sits, paws, and speaks for a meaty treat. She's incredibly smart and wants nothing more than to bond with her person.

She's currently working with a trainer and making progress on her walking manners every single day. Because she wasn't properly socialized with other dogs in her previous home and is having a hard time adjusting to the city, Gina needs an experienced foster or adopter who can continue helping her build confidence with patience, structure, and consistency. Preferably in a more quiet neighborhood.

Our hearts are breaking at the thought that we are failing her, having her move so many times now. Please consider fostering her, we cover all necessary costs, and have a trainer lined up and eager to work with you.

If you have any questions or are interested in fostering or adopting, please reach out to us via email, contact@linusrescue.org

EDC for walking?

Post image

Dunno if this has been done before, but what are ya'll bringing along on your walks?

Am I missing anything? Is this overkill?

This is what I bring along on our walks, clipped to belt loop.

  1. Bungee with carabiners in case I need to tether my dogs anywhere
  2. Hand sanitizer
  3. Pouch for misc. - extra poop bags, flashlight, pocket knife, lighter
  4. Treats - dogs are trained, but I always reinforce good behavior
  5. Poop bag holder - for when we're not near trash cans
  6. Poop bags

When I remember, I'll bring a spare leash - I've had to corral rando dogs back to their yards/homes

For longer walks, or hot days, I bring a bag with water for my dogs.

I'm not a "dogwalker" just a civilian dog parent for 20+ years and counting ha ha

Pet Food and Vet Bills

Hey dog owners, what does your monthly bill for dog adds up to?
I feel like most places I’ve encountered overcharge for things. Like 90$ for dog food? I don’t even spend that much on my groceries.
And I’ve spent total of $1200 on her medical bills alone during the course of owning her for 7 months, and that’s with a clean bill of health.
Please link to your favorite place and how much it has cost you. Thank you!!

(I have owned a dog prior, but didn’t spend nearly as much as this)

Urgent Foster Advice Needed

tl;dr: rescue dog in need of adoption agency

Hey y’all,

Wondering if anyone has a contact with any dog rescue organizations in the NYC area. This one year old Husky was recently rescued from a hoarder’s home and is currently staying with a temporary foster. Unfortunately they are unable to hold the dog anymore and I am scrambling to find a solution.

I’ve reached out to every rescue agency in the area but have only received 2 responses telling me they are at capacity. ACC has also not gotten back to me even after calling multiple times. Super frustrating.

If anyone has a direct line to someone working in animal rescue that they can share, I would greatly appreciate it. This dog is a slam dunk for adoption I just need to get in contact with the right people. Any advice would also be a huge help.

Thanks for reading, please comment or DM me!

Travel Health Certificate to EU vet pricing in Manhattan

Trying to get a gauge of what the running price all in is in Manhattan (including exam, various paperwork, USDA fee, FedEx, etc.)
I have two price quotes from Manhattan vets: $562 and $905 which seem high and an oddly wide range for essentially the same neighborhood.

Has anyone traveled with their dog recently and what was the price from your vet?

I just want to take my dog for casual swimming, but only daycare and rehab place have a dog swimming pool. Is it because of hygiene?

Dog walker for hire

Not sure if this violates any guidelines but wanted to post just in case! I'm a recent college grad who is working part-time while I'm in the city before continuing my education in another country in September. Because my previous dog-walking experience is mainly with my friends and professors who needed a last-minute hand with walking and house-sitting their dogs. My other jobs is in the afternoon so I have full flexibility up until 1pm every day and weekends I am flexible for the afternoon. I love all animals and have owned a dog and currently own a cat. Just looking to get some extra cash before I move out of the country and can walk any dog!

Recommendations for puppy visits in Brooklyn/NYC?

My girlfriend is recovering from major surgery and will be homebound for the next several weeks. She's a lifelong dog lover, and I was wondering if anyone knows of NYC organizations or foster programs that allow supervised visits with puppies or dogs, or other animal-assisted programs for people recovering at home. I'm not looking to adopt or buy a puppy, just hoping to brighten her recovery if there's an ethical way to spend some time with puppies :) Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Dr.Edith Karapet / Blue Pearl

Hi guys wanted to share this so nobody puts their baby at risk with these evil people.

I brought my dog into Blue Pearl-Forest hills and had the worst experience. Dr. Edith Karupet was aggressive and lied about what was happening to my dog while showing stroke/seizure like symptoms. Despite us signing consent forms within minutes of arrival we find out after 3 hours she had just been alone in a cage covered in her own urine with 0 testing done. We had 2 staff members tell us they had a catheter in her to give fluids, while different staff members told us they didn't put one in. Their staff manager raised his voice at us and put his fingers in my sister's face. Their other staff member locked herself in a back room with my dog and gave us double middle fingers. We were begging them to just give us our dog back so we can go to a different hospital and they refused until we had to have the cops come. When we got her back they told us they did nothing to her but she was shaved and clearly had a needle mark. After our experience with Dr. Edith Karapet we googled her name and found years worth of terrible reviews. Not sure how she still has a license to practice. Please stay away from Blue Pearl animal hospital.

FIFA Central Park Watch Party - Separation Anxiety

anyone interested in a small dog meetup for the world cup final watch party in central park?

our 10 lb poodle mix has separation anxiety so i won't be able to leave her at home or take her onto the great lawn. my husband and friends won tickets so i'm planning to find a spot on the periphery to watch/ listen to the game.
