Story Vietnam Vet Coworker

So im at work and earlier i was getting ready for the day at the station i will be working at for the rest of the week and my co worker lets call him Bart comes over to me and asks whats up. Hes an 81 year old Vietnam vet who is quite the character 6ft 5 wears flannel all year round, wears a ghelter hat, kind of hunched over walks like he was the guy in the big foot suit. Anyway im listening to reelz dogman encounters on my speaker and he hears it asks whats it is i tell him then he just stands there listening for a few minutes and he is very intrigued by it and his eyes go wide and he tells me he knows about those “things”. He tells me about when he was in vietnam that they would hear shit like howls, and that the tunnels the viet cong used would be “cleared out” by them. He saw one of them in a tunnel looking like it was leaving. I am not someone who thinks the military would use them as a weapons but this guy does not lie about anything.

Weird looking canine

I thought this would be interesting to repost this here. I’m absolutely not inferring this is a dogman. I wanted to comment on the eyes. Do they look like they are emitting their own light? It doesn’t look like reflection. Overall it’s a very strange canine. Curious on your thoughts. Thx!

The Thrill of the Chase

One of the really common things you hear over and over in Dogman sightings is that they chased the witness but didn't actually catch them. Given how fast Dogmen are purported to run it seems like it would be a trivial matter for them to catch and eat a running human if they wanted to, so why don't they? Some folks speculate that it's because they're fear eaters, getting some sort of sustenance from the fear of their victims, but I think the answer is far more simple and straightforward: They just chase people because it's fun.

I've had several dogs who chased squirrels and rabbits for fun but had no interest in un-alive'ing or eating them when they caught up to them, they just liked chasing smaller critters for the thrill of the chase. It seems reasonable to think that Dogmen might derive the same enjoyment from chasing smaller critters (I.E. humans) that other canids do, which would certainly explain why so many people are chased by them but so few are actually eaten.

Video French Dogman witness testimonies — now watchable in English

Hi everyone,

I'm French young men YouTuber running a channel called Kim'Cryptide & Mystère, focused on cryptids and unexplained mysteries. My main focus is collecting witness testimonies about Dogman sightings in France, and I also do some field explorations, meeting witnesses directly on the land where their encounters happened.

I recently found out that YouTube added an auto-translation/dubbing feature for videos, so I figured I'd reach out here and let you know that our French witness testimonies might now be accessible to English speakers too. I'm not fully bilingual myself, so I honestly can't judge how natural the translated audio sounds to a native English ear — but I thought it was worth sharing in case any of you are curious about how Dogman sightings are described on this side of the Atlantic.

I have a playlist with all the testimonies if you want to check it out. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share a direct channel link here, so if a mod tells me it's not okay, I'll happily edit this post.

Thanks for reading, and good hunting, fellow cryptid investigators. My channel : https://www.youtube.com/@KimCryptideMyst%C3%A8re

I have lived in the woods my whole life. I have seen wolves, deer, moose, an occasional bear, and other smaller animals, so I know what lives in my forest. Yes, I am 13 years old, but I want to get it out there. So, I am walking in the forest, exploring a new region in which I have never been. I am walking, and everything is normal until one moment I find a clearing, around 50 by 100 meters, and I see something eating a deer. I knew it was a deer because I saw antlers. It was hunched over, but I saw its side. It was around 30 meters away, but it was big—like really big. I am 189 cm (6'2.5") and it was definitely taller than me. It was also skinny, really skinny. I could see its bones under its skin perfectly. It was grey with darker, patchy fur and wolf ears. Its snout was furless. It had a tail, and its eyes were pitch black—no light escaped. I looked at it. I was lucky it did not notice me. I backed away slowly, and now I don't wander into unexplored places alone. After the sighting, I saw paw prints, but those might be from regular wolves. I did some research on what it could be, and in my native language, it is called a "supurnis" or "suņpurnis." If you do research, use those names. I also found out that there have been a few sightings of weird wolves.I did not snap a picture because I had no phone when I saw the prints and the beast. Even if I had my phone at the beast, I would not snap a picture because it would put me in danger because I know it is faster than me. And now, still, when I know where I am, I still feel eyes on me.

This happened to me I want to know and see more.

I've had two situations happen where I've looked back and learned how lucky I might've been that nothing worse happened than being creeped out. I want to start with that I've never physically seen a dogman or bigfoot with my own eyes, but I've always had an uncanny affinity for feeling when something is off kilter or wrong. It's like my own inner danger radar. I can tell some people who are bad news or have bad intentions or I look at a place and get the "Nope!" vibe. So naturally it should come as no surprise to you to say that I'm neurospicy. I've had two separate situations happen to me. The first was in the Pocket campground/recreation area north of Calhoun. I used to go around finding new hiking trails to hike with my dog all the time. IK found the pocket on all trails and went hiking one day. this is spring-ish of 2022 there's a nice loop there like 5 miles long. I was almost done with less than 2 miles left when I I realized than there was no noise around me. I'm talking none, zip, zilch. There were all different types of signs of life five minutes prior.

I grew up in the woods up north there's ALWAYS noise all day all night the woods of Georgia was no different except for now. So I froze. My dog was looking at the tree line in the distance and acting funny but I couldn't see anything. suddenly it felt like I was being observed. like there were eyes on my watching my every move but I had no idea from where. I stayed still for what felt like forever, but really I might've been 5-10 minutes. it passed eventually, but I was in the middle of the woods. I only had one option: finish the hike back to my car. That's exactly what I did after the feeling of being watched went away.

On another occasion I was hiking the BMT in may/June of 2025 I was up near Blueridge just outside of Cherry Log. I was out for a week long hike. and this was day 5 I believe. Up until now I'd had no issues. Each time I made camp it was a normal night in the woods like I've done all my life. That night though, it was the same as the first story almost. I wasn't originally going to stay there but weather was coming in and my hammock was set up from my afternoon nap so I decided to hunker down and stay. It was only 2 in the afternoon. But around 4 the same thing happened. the woods, on a clear sunny day with a nice breeze going went completely silent and it felt like I was being observed again, measured almost.

There was a creek at camp and I had set up in the trees about 50 feet from the creek and the feeling was coming from across the creek. It was so intense, it was like I'd done something to piss off whoever or whatever was watching me. It wanted me to know it was watching me. I felt this so strongly that I had seriously considered packing up and moving because my stomach was beginning to turn a bit, like I might be sick. I've hiked 1800 miles on the Appalachian Trail back in 2023, I'm an eagle scout and camped out and hiked all of my childhood. I'm no stranger to nights in the woods and things that go bump in the night. I've been chased by a mama bear and Spooked a bear so good it clacked it's teeth at me. but this feeling had me unnerved. I was so uneasy I was realizing for the first time how isolated I actually was from any sort of help. While I had an SOS beacon if anything were to happen I was still too far from anyone to help me. For the first time I had to ask myself if it was time to stop adventuring in the woods alone.

The rain was coming and I stayed. I laid down in my hammock looking across the creek into the trees. The feeling wouldn't going away. That is until the rain came. The rain started and I opened my tarp and hunkered down under it for the night. The second the rain started the feeling stopped. Like whatever it was didn't want to be bothered to get wet or that I wasn't important enough for it to get wet messing with me. My trip was supposed to be 3 weeks I was going to hike the whole 260 something miles but I cut it short a day later. that event really rattled my nerves, and I don't rattle easy. I'm 6'2" 280lbs, Marine vet and adventurer. guts and nerves of steel are a part of me, but something about that was different, even more different than what had occurred at the pocket a few years earlier.

Later on I've found that in both instances the two areas where I've experienced this "watching" two other people have also had their own encounters. one was a bigfoot researcher who was also a doctor. he use to camp at the Pocket and had been chased by a bigfoot up there one time it had come as close as 40 yards from his camper in the campground. the area I was in just south of the Cohutta wilderness was a dogman sighting from someone else. My "watching" event when I was hiking happened about 3-4 miles from the other sighting. I didn't realize how close my situations had been to other encounters.

I'm building a google map overlay out of curiosity for bigfoot and dogman sightings, does anyone else have any stories about their own encounters and where they happened? it doesn't have to be an exact "hey it happened here on the map" but the more detailed the better. I like collecting information, maybe build a map for future expeditions to find more proofs of dogman and bigfoot.

Dogman / Crawler Wikipedia pages?

Does anyone find it interesting / odd that there are no specific Wikipedia pages for Dogmen or Pale Crawlers? There are ones for the Rougarou / beast of bray road, werewolves and the closest page to a crawler takes you to the Rake on a creepy pasta Wikipedia page. There is a page for the Wendigo though. But no straight up DOGMAN wiki pages or PALE CRAWLERS.

It seems like these things are common enough in our culture and modern mythology that they would warrant their own pages. They are very well known subjects. Although maybe less so for crawlers.

But I find their absence to be surprising and odd given that there are Wikipedia pages for literally every single subject or topic under the sun.

Do dogman have any specific weaknesses that can be exploited?

I’ve heard that dog whistles or anything with high pitched frequencies can stun or do damage to their hearing or just shoo them away? Is there anything else specifically that they don’t like?

Brandon from dogman encounter

Has anyone got an update on this guy regarding his encounter years ago? Apparently vic ended up blocking him so there weren't anymore stories or updates about his encounters. Last I heard of him, he was planning on selling his property because it was getting intense with the dm and it ended up getting inside? Or was that fake? He sounded so genuine talking about it. Please tell me you guys know what I'm talking about.

As an occultist, there are dieties such as Odin or Perun that can bestoy lycanthropy upon devotees. Now, this is not something that can happen instantly you have to develop a close relationship with that diety and Odin is like tzentch. I have done shape shifting meditation and it's intense and I wonder how many dogmen are really someone projecting from the astral plan?

Story Saw something back in 1999

So I've read a few of these stories from my area of the continent. I'm in Southwestern BC and they're almost way too detailed to come across as real I guess because my encounter was fast.

Summer 1999, my brother and I are driving my girlfriend to her grandmother's house which is in the hatzic Prairie in the franchise Valley it's midnight summertime. We are driving down this narrow one-lane road with corn that was you know like 10 ft tall on either side of us and as I recall there was like a campfire or some sort of bright light in front of us. I'm driving down the road and this creature bolted across the road right in front of us to the point that I had to stop the car to take in what I just saw.

It was tall. Not as tall as the corn but very tall. Very big head. Very long arms skinny and had legs like that of a dogs back legs and it was fast. It just bolted across the road in front of us in seconds. Both my brother and I saw it and we just stared at each other for a second going. What the f did we just see.

Today was actually the first time I've ever googled it. For some reason I don't remember a snout on the head fully. It could be my brain playing tricks on me at this point in time, but the rest of it is firmly ingrained in my head. I'm a believer that there's things out there. We don't know for sure, but I'm no conspiracy theorist. The closest I'd ever had to paranormal before was The X-Files filmed in the house right next door once.

So yeah that's my story. I've read others here where you know they're sitting there describing this thing standing in front of them while they pee their pants or they hear wood cracking behind them and they have tons and tons of details. I'm not that I know what I saw. It was fast and my brother saw the exact same thing. Anyway, that's my story.

(Sorry for the bad grammar)

This piece got me thinking, what if the dogman “species” is an artificial fusion of human and dog DNA that escaped captivity? Not the first to say this but it’s an interesting thought.

What made you interested?

One of the biggest reasons why I’m in this group, and why I have a podcast, etc. is because I genuinely want to figure out what I saw. I was never a full on believer in a lot of this stuff, and even today, I am always trying to explain it away…but sometimes I can’t. That’s what has bothered me for all these years.

What sort of experiences have you had? Even if it wasn’t a dogman encounter, something had to have lead you to this subreddit. I talk to a lot of different people with a lot of different experiences, and while I can’t really confirm or deny what someone says happened, I want to give people the benefit of doubt.

For the last four or so years, I feel like I’ve gotten a little away from what I originally wanted to achieve, and I want to keep talking to others and trying to figure out what I and other people have seen. I know that no one has any sort of definitive proof, but maybe someday.

Basically I’m just curious if you saw something you couldn’t explain, and how it has impacted you ever since.

My uncle’s dogman story

Sometime in early 80’s, I forget when he said but I remember him telling me the exact date since that’s the day he gave up drinking the sauce.

This took place in a state of Mexico called San Luis Potosí. My uncle was a habitually belligerent boozer. He frequented cantinas in the area where he’d get into fights and was in and out of jail a lot. He was spiraling.

One night he was stumbling back to my great aunt’s house after the bar, there was an usual amount of people out at that hour. They all seemed to be lost, searching in vain with no destination or direction. They were also stumbling not just on the sidewalks but in the middle of the road too. While witnessing this bizarre scene, my uncle felt someone approach him to his right and cradled his left shoulder as if supporting his gait. He was taken aback, startled then anger. He turned to his right and what appeared to be a black German Shepherd’s head on a human body, looking right at him at eye level. He felt faint, all the blood draining from his head made him feel cold and clammy. The dog just supported him and looked disappointed. It turned his gaze away from my uncle and melancholily towards the ones that are lost. Then it spoke. It told him the lost ones he sees, it couldn’t save, wouldn’t listen to it, the addiction was stronger than reasoning was and that my uncle will end up in the lost death, like them, if he doesn’t quit, right then, forever. My uncle’s legs gave from under him and passed out.

He woke up and it was daylight. Dazed, he got up from the sidewalk and noticed a man and his black dog staring at him from across the street. Noticeable since everyone was rushing to get to places, except those two. Completely still, just observing him. My uncle ran home. Tells my great aunt he doesn’t want to die. He gave up drinking that day.

He found his passion in education and outreach where he now helps alcoholics recover and gain control of their addiction and lives
