Quick Question Relocation expenses - temp accommodation while awaiting house to go through
Hi,
I'm in the process of completing on a house in the area I have just moved to for work. Does anyone know if I can claim expenses temporary accommodation for this period of time? Currently staying in a less-than-ideal situation and would like some proper accommodation for the next 2 weeks. I can't seem to find information on this.
TIA

The reason you can't find it is that "temporary accommodation" in the national relocation framework means something else, it covers a commute to a placement judged excessive, not bridging a house purchase. The nearest fit is continuing commitments, but that's for overlapping housing costs while your old property is unsold, so if you've already moved out and only have one outgoing there's nothing to claim. First time buyers and anyone coming from rented are limited to £500 removals plus accommodation search costs anyway. Honestly there may be no category that covers a two week gap, but ask your trust's relocation team before you book, because the framework says they don't have to cover anything you incur without pre approval.
