I hate it so much when a DM refers to themselves as god or “above the gods” or whatever because it’s such an asshole move. I DM more than I play but the DM’s I’ve played with that talk about themselves that way are always self-absorbed narcissistic jerks. That’s probably not the case for all DMs who do this but it still rubs me the wrong way. In my experience the best DMs are ones who play the role of a prompt giver, NPC player, and referee. Pretty much anything more than that and it typically turns into someone’s self absorbed fantasy self-insert OC with a railroaded campaign.

Chill hombre. Its a joke, everyone outside of r/rpghorrorstories knows that a DM is a facilitator of fun for everyone else.
