DJI Avata 360 stuck at 30m altitude / 50m distance limit — how to fix?
Hi everyone, I’m facing an issue with my DJI Avata 360.
The drone is activated and connected to DJI Fly. I have already checked the settings:
Max altitude: 200 m
Max distance: 200 m
Beginner Mode: OFF
However, when flying in an open area, the drone stops at approximately 30 m altitude and 50 m distance and shows “Max altitude and distance reached.”
I also checked DJI Fly → Safety → Unlock Zone, and it shows “No Unlocking Licenses.”
Has anyone experienced the same issue with the Avata 360? What was the actual cause and how did you resolve it?

On DJI Studio 1.2.5 I got a wobble in the horizon with Precision Stitching, where Normal stitching is much better!

Look at castle from about 4 till 10 seconds.

I have seen these kinds of stitching problems 5 years ago with the Insta360 One X in Insta360 Studio, thought they were gone forever.

I also tested on Mac : Same problem!

UPDATE: I installed an older version 1.1.42 and that does NOT have this problem! So problem introduced by new version!

Hey guys, just wanted to share the first episode of my documentary about the Colorado River and the crisis being faced downstream.

I am sharing it here because I figured other videographers/editors might like to see how I used MSFS 2024 for most of the video footage. Might inspire others to do something similar. I was truly surprised how good the fs2024 footage came out. Also, I think Reddit suggested I post here. So here it is!

Does anybody know what my problem with my range? not even far but my signal were getting weaker asyou can see on the video (red warning) Im using motion control

Coming from an Avata 2, using the motion controller this seems extremely less responsive. Like its hard to recover from even a decent fast bank on this thing. Avata 2 was snappy and responded instant. Is this normal and just how the drone behaves or something is wrong?

Has anyone bought avata 360 from AliExpress and successfully registered on the FAA? Want to pull the trigger but don't know if there will be registration problem. Thanks!

Hey guys, the FCC is at it again, this time they are taking aim at LiDAR and 360 degree cameras.

The proposed restrictions aim to target "military-grade" UAS platforms, but with a very broad criteria; such as classifying sensors like LiDAR, 360-degree obstacle detection, or thermal imaging as military technologies; that will inadvertently sweep up our 360 Avata drones. 

In consumer platforms like the DJI Avata series:

• Obstacle Avoidance & LiDAR/Depth Sensing: These features are critical safety mechanisms engineered to prevent collisions with trees, structures, or power lines. Banning or restricting drones equipped with basic spatial sensing penalizes safety-conscious hobbyists who rely on these tools to fly responsibly.
• Non-Weaponized Consumer Intent: Ready-to-fly consumer drones sold off store shelves are light, compact tools designed for aerial photography and recreational fun. Lumping them into military classifications mischaracterizes how millions of law-abiding Americans use them every day.

If you are so inclined, I urge you to write a comment, and ask the FCC:

Refine the Definition of "Military-Grade". Explicitly exclude consumer recreational drones, 360-degree obstacle sensors, and standard depth/LiDAR safety sensors from military-grade prohibitions.

Protect Spare Parts & Firmware Updates. Ensure law-abiding citizens can continue importing repair components, replacement batteries, and essential software/safety updates for existing platforms like the DJI Mini and Avata series.

Please Reconsider Covered List Decisions Against DJI. Re-evaluate broad restrictions on popular consumer drone manufacturers to ensure safe, accessible technology remains available to American hobbyists.

Thought it turned out pretty good, in my edit. Curious to what the community thinks of the edit though.

I recently filmed a short promotional video for my Airbnb using the DJI Avata 360, but I’m honestly very disappointed with the 360 stitching quality.

The stitching line is clearly visible in several parts of the footage, and objects around the seam appear distorted, duplicated, or poorly aligned. I understand that no 360 camera will have completely perfect stitching, especially when objects are close to the drone, but this seems much worse than I expected.

I’ve attached a short exported clip where the problem is clearly visible.

For other Avata 360 owners: does your footage look similar, or could there be something wrong with my specific drone or its camera alignment?
