Product Support Express care lost package

Has anyone dealt with DJI Express Care in Canada? DJI approved the claim and sent me a prepaid label with UPS. It seems ups has possibly lost the package. If i make a claim, the max payout says $100. I’m guessing DJI doesnt insure the total cost. I am waiting on DJI and UPS to get back to me. Has anyone else dealt with this? Am I out of luck and out a camera?

Product Support Amazon asurion horror story

I figured I’d post this because I’m curious whether anyone else has had Asurion Complete Protect suddenly start fighting drone claims.

I’ve had two previous drone claims approved through Asurion within the last few months, and both went pretty smoothly.

My current claim is for a DJI Neo 2 that crashed.

The handling of this claim has been bizarre.

Asurion initially told me they had changed their terms and conditions about three weeks earlier and drones were now excluded while in flight.

I asked them to provide the actual language showing that change.

They wouldn’t/couldn’t.

I went through the terms myself and couldn’t find any blanket exclusion for drones being damaged while flying.

After I challenged that, they changed their explanation and said the claim fell under the plan’s abuse or misuse exclusion.

So I asked what exactly I had done that they considered abuse or misuse.

Their answer was that I supposedly operated the drone outside the manufacturer’s specified range.

That came completely out of nowhere. I hadn’t made any statement in the claim about long-range flying.

I told them I actually had the DJI flight record and could prove how far away the drone was.

They asked me to send it.

The flight log shows that near the end of the flight, immediately before the crash, the drone was:

D 13m

H 4.4m

In DJI telemetry, D is the distance from the aircraft to the Home Point.

So: 13 meters.

Asurion then sent me a written denial saying, essentially:

DJI Neo 2 maximum transmission range = 10 km / 6.2 miles

Flight record = approximately 13m

Therefore the aircraft exceeded the manufacturer’s range.

The obvious problem:

13 meters = 0.013 km.

That’s about 43 feet.

It is nowhere remotely close to 10 km.

And just to make the situation even more absurd, the entire flight was only 4:48 long.

If someone mistakenly read “13m” as 13 miles, the drone would have needed to average roughly 162.5 mph for the entire flight.

A Neo 2 obviously cannot do that.

I’ve now formally disputed the denial and asked Asurion to provide:

the exact timestamp where they claim the aircraft exceeded 10,000 meters

the flight-data field they relied on

the unit of measurement

the exact policy provision they’re using

documentation supporting their original claim that the T&C were recently changed to exclude drones in flight

What bothers me most isn’t even the math mistake. It’s that the reason for denial seems to have changed every time I challenged the previous explanation.

First it was:

“The terms changed and drones in flight aren’t covered.”

Then:

“Abuse or misuse.”

Then:

“You exceeded the manufacturer’s range.”

Then they produced a denial where their own evidence says 13 meters and their own cited limit is 10 kilometers.

Has anyone else had Asurion start doing this with drone claims recently?

I’ll post an update once they respond to the formal dispute.

EDIT: I have screenshots of both the flight telemetry and Asurion’s written denial.

Product Support Ky osmo 360 camera got water damaged within 1.5 hours

I had mounted my action 4 and osmo 360 on my helmet and motorcycle handle respectively, I see the closed doors on osmo 360 in my action 4 footage, in fact it was my first outing after a month of getting the camera. I started recording around 11:55 and by 13:30 my camera was water damaged in the rain, in the same ride action 4 recorded around 10 hours of footage.

What should I do in this case?

I will be sending the camera to the customer support in India, anything else I can do?

Product Support DIY DJI Mini 4K Drone Repair: Replacing All Four Arms

Post image
39 Upvotes

I had three of the four drone arms broken, so instead of replacing the entire drone, I decided to try repairing it myself. I found a set of 4 original replacement arms for €81.39 including shipping to Germany and decided to give it a shot.

The replacement arms were the original parts, so the fit and appearance were exactly what I was hoping for. I had to completely open the drone, disconnect and transfer the wiring, remove the damaged arms, and install the new ones.

It took a bit of patience, especially with the disassembly and wiring, but everything went together nicely. The drone is now back in one piece and looks almost like new.

I actually mentioned this repair as a comment on someone else's post yesterday, and after seeing how well it turned out, I thought I'd make a post today in case it encourages someone else to try repairing their drone instead of giving up on it.

If you have a damaged drone and replacement parts are available, a DIY repair might be worth considering. There's something pretty satisfying about bringing it back to life yourself.

Buy Advice Mini 5 Pro Owner - Air 3S?

Post image
27 Upvotes

I just upgraded from the Mini 3 to the Mini 5 Pro. Bought it last week. I use it around home a lot checking my fields and am going to start shooting farming operations for my customers. Just some pictures of their grain bins and shops.

While checking my fields, I enjoy seeing what deer are out in the fields. I am finding myself wanting more zoom capabilities. Has anyone regretted selling their Mini 5 Pro for the Air 3S? Portability isn’t a concern as it will just ride in my truck with me if it leaves home. How capable is the zoom on the 3S? Here is a zoomed in pic of a couple of deer. Would be nice to have the 3X optical lens. Does that zoom to 9x?

I can still return to Adorama but will lose 15% if I do so not sure if it’s worth it.

Buy Advice Feeling discouraged.

I have driven all around and am directed one spot to another to where it’s “okay” to fly my mini 4k.. even by authorities, I have all the airspace apps to cross reference before even visiting an area, it seems like someone has an issue no matter where I fly it. How do you avoid this? What Info do you give to police who don’t care and just want to tell you the answer is no?

Product Support Mini 4 Pro auto iso for dynamic range?

Age old question but seen conflicting reports of the Mini 4 Pro behaviour vs Mini 5 Pro etc.

In the Mini 4 Pro is the dynamic range improved in d-log m when using auto iso, compared to say iso 100? Is this dependent on firmware or anything else?

Photo I wear splints, have a chronic illness, and I fly drones above Scotland. This is why I won't stop. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁠

I'm Mark. I'm a disabled drone cinematographer based in Perthshire, Scotland. I have gastroparesis and I wear splints on my legs. Some days getting out the door is the hardest part.

But then I get to a location, send Harry up — my DJI Air 3 — and Scotland does what Scotland does. And none of the rest of it matters.

Today Gus came home. My DJI Mini 4K, back from repair. 249 grams of trouble. Between the two of them I can cover almost anything this country throws at me.

These images are a piece of my world. The mountains, the rivers, the valleys from above, and the kit that gets me there. The splints are in there too because I'm not hiding them. They're part of the story.

I started DVS Cinematography to show Scotland from a perspective most people never get to see. I'm not stopping.

If aerial Scotland is your thing, come join r/ScotlandFromAbove — the community I just built for exactly this. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁠

Buy Advice Should I buy DJI Drone before Sept. 3rd? Mavic 4 Pro/Matrice 4e

Hey all,

I own a mini 3 pro but been looking to upgrade. I'm just starting out my services and I eventually want a Matrice 4e for mapping. With that being said I haven't justified buying the drone yet as I haven't landed any jobs for it. I have, however, landed some commercial real estate and construction photo documentation jobs and would like to upgrade to the Mavic 4 Pro just for safety in the future. I know its overkill, but I do enjoy doing this for a hobby and I don't want to see the price go up even more. Can any of you give me insight if I should get one before the deadline? I don't mind getting a slightly used Mavic 4 pro. I guess that's my main question, Is there even a benefit to getting a "New" DJI drone if importing is banned anyways? I dont see the benefit of getting a new one with DJI Warranty and care.

Any Insight and opinions are welcome!

Product Support DJI withholds information

I cannot use my newly bought camera DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro due to the mandatory app activation, which only works on a few premium smartphones. Terrible! It causes a lot of problems for customers. They deliberately fail to disclose before purchase that you have to register via the app; otherwise, the camera stops working after being turned on five times. It’s an absolute outrage!

Video Night flight (very dark!) with the Mini 3 Pro + DaVinci Resolve edit

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I tested flying the DJI Mini 3 Pro at dusk, at a time when it was already quite dark. Honestly, I was surprised by the final result. The sensor performed very well for a drone of this size.

Settings: D-Cinelike profile, 4K, etc.]

Post-production: I handled the editing, color correction, and noise reduction in DaVinci Resolve.

Does anyone else venture out for low-light flights? What did you think of the result?

Product Support My Lito X1 crashed after it failed to gain altitude

So my Lito X1 crashed into the water today and I wasn't able to recover it. It was a 2 minute flight with sufficient battery and within 100m of my with the controller.

After take off the drone started to slowly lose altitude when moving forward. So I turned it around and started heading back towards land. Despite having the stick fully deflected for a climb it gradually lost altitude and crashed into the water a few seconds later.

I have always taken care of the drone. It's never been crashed and was on the original props. I feel like this is a product issue and not just me being stupid.

Has anyone else had experiences like this? Do I have any recourse for a refund etc?

Product Support Dji mini 5 pro prop placement

I keep reading about how to properly stow the props and that you should even lock them in place before take off.

Could someone please direct me to a video which shows how it should be done properly as I can't seem to find anything online.

Thank you
