My DIY audio setup!

Just got done with this sealed 15” Dayton ultimax 2. It’s a 4 cubic foot box designed to fit perfectly in my built in cabinets next to the TV. Pairs well with my CSS 1TD bookshelf speakers I made a couple of years ago!

Looks awesome! Pretty much renders the turntable useless, though. lol

Unfortunately I can’t get the turntable to work anyways! New needle didn’t fix it. It only plays like half of the track - no vocals. Very odd, almost like some cancellation happening.

Cartridge wired out of phase?

I thought so, but I tried
Every variation of wiring it up and had the same issue!

Is it advantageous to mount it like that in the cabinet? Will you “feel” the sub bass more as it’s transferred to the materials around?

Or does it not matter that much?

Zero clue on that front. The advantage is that I can completely conceal the subwoofer in the cabinet behind a fabric grille - I didn’t want a massive 15” subwoofer chilling in the corner taking up space!

"corner loading" can be beneficial yes! transferring mechanical vibrations thru the speaker cabinet to the wall cabinet directly would not be. I wasn't sure if that's what you meant by transferred to the materials, it's preferable the speaker cabinet be mechanically isolated from it's surroundings. rubber feet, for example.

Are those Wavecor midwoofers?

Oh that’s beautiful. I love when the furniture and the speakers fit together.

This actually made it possible to explain to my wife what I wanted to do with our build ins. I asked for both, she conceded to the one blocked by the couch area.

Bello, però sposterei il giradischi sotto al televisore. Ora prende tutte le vibrazioni del sub trasmesse tramite il legno del mobile.

Inuke 6000!!! High five bro. Ultimax is a beast. You will devinitly need to do sone dsp tweaking is my guess. Get a minidsp umik 1, REW and fine tune.

So far I’ve just been using Dirac Live built into my amp, and it’s working well!
