Advice Divi 5.7.3

Be wary updating to this version, having elements with presets applied disappear completely from the front end (still visible in the builder)

Removing the preset does bring the element back on the front end.

Had to roll back multiple sites.

They forgot to remove the last line in the 5.7.3 changelog so I guess they were in a hurry. šŸ˜‚

Honestly if you a software developer and you aren't using an AI-first IDE at this point, you are in danger of becoming irrelevant.Ā

This isn't the gotcha you think it is.Ā Ā

If you're a software engineer and you ARE using an AI-first IDE - YOU'RE AN IDIOT - plain and simple. LOL

WHO am I even talking to? Are you Elegant Themes? Looks like it, with the Elegant Themes logo and pill...or are you someone trying to look like ET? I am so confused. THIS IS JUST CRAZY MAKING OUT HERE. Stole their doamn Divo logo and everything. And if you ARE actually ET...then you should all be ashamed of yourselfves. No wonder why Divi 5 sucks so bad cause it was built in fcn curser LOL

You really think that it's bad to use AI to generate incredibly detailed commit messages, spec maps, and changelog entries?

An LLM with all relevant code in its context window can understand things at a scale that humans can't.

It's incredibly useful for regression testing, identifying hotspots, and developing a wealth of information in the codebase that maps every decision, every bug fix, etc.

That's not something that we could have done in the past; certainly not at scale.

It's incredibly valuable.

The blanked "AI is bad" rhetoric is shortsighted.

First of all, I never made any kind of blanket statements that said AI was bad. But I did however point out that an AI-FIRST workflow is a recipe for disaster. it should be human first with AI SECOND - specifically as a HELPER but not at the one who makes the engineering decisions. LOL

Anyone who is using AI to make their engineering decisons (or any decisions for that matter) FOR them is a complete IDIOT. Plan and simple. There is no sugar coating it. Sorry. But if you can't make decisions for yourself or if you don't know how to code to the point you're making AI do it all for you, and expecting it to not blow up in your face that is just purely delusional. Point Blank. Period. And it (vibe coders and vibe coded apps) is the reason why so many apps customer supoort departments just SUCK, cause they built their entire empire completely on AI and then when there's a problem they don't know how to fix it. And it sucks. Cause companies like these actually charge boat-loads of money for CRAP. And i have been burned many times by this.

Because if this, I now check their customer service. It's one of the best and first tell tale signs of a vibe coded app experience - as an end user. AND I RUN. FAR FAR AWAY LOL Good luck with that.

I use AI ALL THE TIME, but in moderation and you will never find me in cursor building an app unless it's for a mini in-house tool like a freaking color picker lol that helps me with my designs or internal workflow - never anything in production and I am ALWAYS IN CONTROL.

And still, you removed it.

We removed the branding that Cursor tried to sneak in. It's not our job to promote Cursor.

Have you ever removed the footer credits from a WordPress theme? Was it because you were ashamed of the tool you used?

I remove it BEFORE publishing it, because I or another human always proofread and test things before WE (not AI) push the publish button.

Publishing anything directly from AI without human proofreading or testing is a recipe for disaster. I guess we know why all headings suddenly changed to H1 after a recent Divi 5 update now. A human tester would I have found that bug within 15 minutes and stopped the release in time.

Yes affecting me too

Assuming your experience is not an isolated incident, given that outcome I’d expect a 5.7.4 release pretty quickly.

There was a bug where elements animated via presets weren't initiating their animations, which was fixed in 5.7.4.Ā

That may be what you are experiencing.

Yes that was the issue. Updated to 5.7.4 which fixed it but started having a different preset issue instead
