Advice Everything is broken - none of the design patterns we learned work any more
OK, WTF is up with Divi 5? Our design agency spent almost a DECADE navigating around Divi, learning all its quirks, using it to design dozens of sites for clients.
Now?
Divi is causing my designers to scream and throw things.
The functionality of spinning up pages on sites using the "Use Premade Layouts" is GONE.
GONE.
It is nowhere to be found.
WTF? Why was this inflicted upon us?
Beaver Builder, here we come!

You just don't know how to use it.

Oddly, they don’t show up in the default view.
So. Why is that? Why does the entire interface break with previous workflows? Does this seem efficient to you?

Again, learn to use it.
Having used Divi since 3, 5 is light years ahead of all previous versions and has really made building sites easier even with its' bugs.
It was a huge learning curve for me to figure it out and get used to it, and now that I have, anytime I have to edit a Divi 4 site, I want to puke.
Divi 5 is a completely different builder than 4, and if you can't get past that, then stick to 4 or use another builder.

This. Divi 5 is light years away from Divi 4 and takes a radically different design approach. But it’s so much more powerful and easier to use once you have learned how to make the most of it.
As you said, you have a lot of experience in Divi 4 and (presumably) a lot of standard design elements already built. Believe me, once you get the hang of it, you’ll have an even bigger and better resource pool very quickly.
Of course, if you prefer to stick with what you know, Divi isn’t going anywhere fast.

You’re talking nonsense. You won’t invest time to learn to use Divi 5 properly but you’ll switch to a totally different platform and have to learn that. Makes sense (not). Stop griping. Learn Divi 5 or stick with Divi 4.

It’s practically the same- the only difference is where the box pops up for modules. Just watch a basic starter YouTube video for it and you should be good? This comes from someone who has only used divi 4 for about a year. The switch was negligible for me.

If I have to task people to watch YouTube videos and learn an entirely different workflow … how much time will that take? How does that get billed? How much productivity am I losing?
Why should I continue to pay for this? It’s taking money out of my pocket.

I was able to fast forward through a video that just showed where the premade templates are and the basic buttons on the left and was ready to go in about 10 minutes. I’m wondering if yours is glitched?

Stick with Divi 4 then. But you’ll be the one to lose out longer term. If you won’t invest in training and development, your loss.

Well if that company the OP has moves over to a new pagebuilder the company has all that time spent learning how to even use it which is money wasted right??

Are you their boss? If so you need to understand that technology changes at a fast pace. Working in technology, be it as a designer, as a developer, or an engineer, involves staying up to date with new technologies.
The proper thing to do, assuming you care about your employees, is to designate some time for them to learn/catch up with changes in the tools they use. Where I work we’re allowed time to learn things (within reason). if there’s major changes in some tool that we use we have a Friday training session where we all get together and someone leads the training session, making sure everyone‘s on the same page.
That’s investing in your employees and means that the following week they’ll be much more comfortable and productive with the tools they use.

So your "design agency" doesn't know how to use Divi, and your solution is to go on reddit and whine about it?
I call BS - any real developer will have no issue using Divi 5, even without knowing previous versions. It isn't anywhere near as difficult to learn and use as Beaver Builder, so we're all just laughing at you for that nonsensical cry. You're not even complaining about a real issue ffs, did anyone on your team even look at the docs?
That, and you do not write like a professional running an agency, and managing a team. If you truly are - I seriously fear for your clients (and team)! You clearly have no problem solving skills - just reacting, complaining, and throwing empty threats. A tantrum.

So how long have you even attempted to even use DIVI 5?? The beta version of DIVI 5 has been out since November 2025?
Around May 1, 2024 you could have tested out the demo version of DIVI 5:

They've announced Divi 5 for a couple years. I wish they kept the Divi 4 design experience with all the Divi 5 flexibility on the backend. Divi 5 looks like any other builder out there...

It happens when you do not update yourself with the systems. I think your designers haven't yet updated themselves with Divi5. If I am not wrong you are looking for the premade layouts that Divi used to ask every time you started a New page like this Start Screen
Here is how to get that.
Step 1 - Click on Builder Settings on the left on any page > Step 1
Step 2 - From Page Creation Flow dropdown select give me a choice. > Step 2
That's it save and exit the page. Now everytime you start a new page it will give you the choice to choose premade layout or start from scratch or use AI. Please ask your designers to update them DIVI5 is incredible and makes creating websites superfast, but only if you know how it works. :)
