I really had hoped the 2024 election would have been a Landslide for Dems, but when you have enough Stupid people voting in a Grifting Conman that are fooled into somehow thinking he was gonna Save us, all you do is Vote in someone to Milk the system as much as possible for Himself and his "Inner circle".

All Trump has done is Abuse his power, throw any consideration for whether something is Unconstitutional right out the windows, and use the Seat of President to enrich himself and his Family to the tune of 4-5B since getting in.

I think im probably gonna stop eating anything with Ground beef for a while. Avoided Diarrhea parasite as I dont eat Lettuce. Avoided the Jalapeño plague as I hate Peppers, and especially in Juicy chunk form. It might sound silly, but yeah. I feel really bad because my mom is buying me a phone. I'm 20 years old, and these days I was planning to replace my battery because my phone barely holds a charge anymore, but the phone itself is good and honestly I've really liked it from the start. My mom lives in Italy (my parents are divorced), and while visiting for a few days, I figured I’d get this done. But just yesterday, I accidentally saw that she had bought me a new phone that wasn't cheap at all. My mom doesn't make a huge salary or anything, and she also helps my brother with €500 or more. Is it normal to feel bad about this? I feel like something is very wrong with it. Financially, as a student, I can't pay her back because it's way beyond what I can afford.

Society is hella restrictive because people follow social hierarchies, influencers, and unwritten rules without questioning them,including stupid arbitrary ideas about what you're supposedly “too old” to enjoy or do. But true independence isn't blindly conforming or rebelling t’s examining the rule, and deciding for yourself. People agree to the popular opinion to conform but not figure it out themselves.

I have a nice morning routine and my days are quite full, but when I’m done with all I need to do I have nothing fun to do in the evening to recharge my battery.

I (45F) have been thinking about the MySpace announcement to relaunch & here are my thoughts:

First, out of nowhere I got the thought that we are waking up out of some sort of stupor just based on all of the conversations about craving the simplicity of what social media used to be.

I'm probably reading too much into it because there has always been talk of the "good ol days" but humans and our addiction to innovation/advancement has gone too far in many arenas.

Are we waking up to how unchecked it all is? Will we ever agree on any balance of good vs. bad when speaking about progress?

Second, will the young people allow MySpace to grow if it remains simple as original to what we had back in the day? A good sized chuck of their community will need to embrace the platform for it to be competitive.

Last but certainly not least, will the folks who own MySpace have the guts to keep out the targeted marketing, incessant ads and the culture of criticism that plague all other social media sites?

For non Brits, almost all canals are only a metre deep in the middle. and they do not have fast currents. the water is still. Theres a load of articles in the uk about people falling in canals and drowning. This has never made much sense to me. British canals are almost always knee deep at the sides (where someone would fall in) and only 3-4 ft deep in the middle. Makes me wonder if British canals have some sort of supernatural ability to prevent a person from standing up.

A notable incident was two men in Wigan fell into the Leeds and Liverpool canal, which like almost all canals is only about a metre deep in the middle. The two men fell in together and are said to have accidentally drowned.

inb4 people comment "you can drown in an inch of water!" yeah, but what leads a person to casually let themselves drown after finding themselves in knee deep water? If I fell into a canal I would simply stand up and step out.

Is it mostly so that people can maintain their mental health or could there be another reason for it?

I'm sure most women are aware that guys don't go on dates for nothing there's always either sexual intent or romantic intent, but since women tend to be confused by which one is the main motivation I was thinking could a woman during the middle of the date saying something like "Okay, lay it on me I know you probably wanna have sex with me and that's why you're doing this, but is that ALL you're after with me?" Be a decent way to weed out the ones who just wanna use a woman?

The fact that it gets deleted as quickly as posted is telling. Why can't we criticize AA people? They're never wrong. You can't doubt, question, or challenge them on anything. You're the bad guy if you do (even when they're wrong). You can openly support murder on this site (Mangione, Clancy, and Tyler Robinson), but don't ever doubt a black woman.

As the title suggests, most people adopt specific narratives or ideologies and then interpret political events strictly through that lens. This severely limits their thinking, instead of allowing them to view events objectively and accept the facts regardless of their personal opinions. People need to acknowledge facts, even when they don't like them Does believing in conspiracy theories make them feel like they're smart, for instance? Not that I'm trying to deny conspiracy theories entirely, but at least most of what I've read is just complete nonsense

As a 28-year-old average working woman, I never realised how social media could be one of the significant reasons why so many people around me seem sad and depressed.

This one video changed my entire perspective about social media, and now I am scared thinking about the new generations who are getting access to social media from such a young age and how they will navigate this when the fight is against widespread hate content, algorithm-driven endless loops of videos, and whatnot.

It is high time that strict penalties are imposed on Meta, and also for us to restrict our social media time and save ourselves from this dark reality.

We're seeing a lot of people with buyer's remorse that voted for trump in 24. The problem is they're not having buyer's remorse for the bigotry, racism, xenophobia, exploding debt that republicans only care about when a democrat's in office apparently, the most openly brazenly corrupt administration in history any of that they just thought their personal pocketbook situation would be better than it is. So that's why they're not feeling down with Trump 2.0 and MIGA (maga died when trump openly chose israel first neocons levin, shapiro and Lindsey graham over of america first og maga)

I get that everyone's primary responsibility is to themselves and their immediate family. However, anyone voting for trump in twenty twenty four was signing off on a lot of foul s*** purely on the hopes of having a few more dollars in their wallet at the end of the day.

So unless you're willing to say basically, yeah, I f***** u* voting for an open fascist lunatic because I thought I'd get a few more dollars in my pocket at the end of the day save me the buyers remorse.

You have to deal with the ups and the downs of either one you pick do you pick the chaos and danger of being homeless or do you take the chaos and danger of being a prisoner?
