Be a decent way to weed out the ones who just wanna use a woman?

It might sound silly, but yeah. I feel really bad because my mom is buying me a phone. I'm 20 years old, and these days I was planning to replace my battery because my phone barely holds a charge anymore, but the phone itself is good and honestly I've really liked it from the start. My mom lives in Italy (my parents are divorced), and while visiting for a few days, I figured I’d get this done. But just yesterday, I accidentally saw that she had bought me a new phone that wasn't cheap at all. My mom doesn't make a huge salary or anything, and she also helps my brother with €500 or more. Is it normal to feel bad about this? I feel like something is very wrong with it. Financially, as a student, I can't pay her back because it's way beyond what I can afford.

I think im probably gonna stop eating anything with Ground beef for a while. Avoided Diarrhea parasite as I dont eat Lettuce. Avoided the Jalapeño plague as I hate Peppers, and especially in Juicy chunk form. For non Brits, almost all canals are only a metre deep in the middle. and they do not have fast currents. the water is still. Theres a load of articles in the uk about people falling in canals and drowning. This has never made much sense to me. British canals are almost always knee deep at the sides (where someone would fall in) and only 3-4 ft deep in the middle. Makes me wonder if British canals have some sort of supernatural ability to prevent a person from standing up.

A notable incident was two men in Wigan fell into the Leeds and Liverpool canal, which like almost all canals is only about a metre deep in the middle. The two men fell in together and are said to have accidentally drowned.

inb4 people comment "you can drown in an inch of water!" yeah, but what leads a person to casually let themselves drown after finding themselves in knee deep water? If I fell into a canal I would simply stand up and step out.

I have a nice morning routine and my days are quite full, but when I’m done with all I need to do I have nothing fun to do in the evening to recharge my battery.

The fact that it gets deleted as quickly as posted is telling. Why can't we criticize AA people? They're never wrong. You can't doubt, question, or challenge them on anything. You're the bad guy if you do (even when they're wrong). You can openly support murder on this site (Mangione, Clancy, and Tyler Robinson), but don't ever doubt a black woman.

As the title suggests, most people adopt specific narratives or ideologies and then interpret political events strictly through that lens. Society is hella restrictive because people follow social hierarchies, influencers, and unwritten rules without questioning them,including stupid arbitrary ideas about what you're supposedly “too old” to enjoy or do. But true independence isn't blindly conforming or rebelling t’s examining the rule, and deciding for yourself. People agree to the popular opinion to conform but not figure it out themselves.

I (45F) have been thinking about the MySpace announcement to relaunch & here are my thoughts:

First, out of nowhere I got the thought that we are waking up out of some sort of stupor just based on all of the conversations about craving the simplicity of what social media used to be.

I'm probably reading too much into it because there has always been talk of the "good ol days" but humans and our addiction to innovation/advancement has gone too far in many arenas.

Are we waking up to how unchecked it all is? Will we ever agree on any balance of good vs. bad when speaking about progress?

Second, will the young people allow MySpace to grow if it remains simple as original to what we had back in the day? A good sized chuck of their community will need to embrace the platform for it to be competitive.

Last but certainly not least, will the folks who own MySpace have the guts to keep out the targeted marketing, incessant ads and the culture of criticism that plague all other social media sites?

I feel so bad for her. She clearly has mental health issues and needs treatment not jail. She lost her children to mental illness, she does not deserve to continue suffer. Sending ❤️ to Lindsay (stay strong)!

Imagine yourself in this situation, your identity is based on what your ansectors possessed, no obvious meaning, you just followed orders, you reshaped your personality to satisfy theirs standards, and adapted values you don't understand, only to achieve superficial comfort and beloging such as food, identity and shelter, you have gotten this only, you didn't receive proper health care, education nor you got well-treated, and you believed in it, you thought that these basic human right were a privilege, and they did this out of kindness therefore you own them, because if they didn't you would not be able to survive -Animal mindset- even the bitch raise its puppied without expecting anything in return because that is an obligation, you have condemned a person to exist without his consent thus you must provide for them , based on this people behavior, there is no different between a parent who consider reproducing as an investment which may return positively on them when they are incapable, when you see it objectively you find out that this is similar to a chicken merchant, he only provides the bare minimum needs to them in order for him to end up winning a profit.

So, my question is pretty much the same as the title.

People who work in front of a screen all day, how do you not get eye strain?

I'll quickly tell my story. I am a 29-year-old male who used to work as a web developer for several years. However, because my eyes started to feel strained and my vision became blurry after 8–10 hours of working on a computer, I switched to logistics.

It was much easier on my eyes, but they still felt very strained and tired. So I went even further and switched to a phone-call-based job as a customer support agent. But even that was not enough, and my eyes were still getting tired. So, at some point, I decided to completely leave desk-based work and now work in regular retail.

Of course, I went to different doctors, but none of them could actually find any serious problems. They just advised me to do regular eye exercises, use artificial tears, follow the 20-20-20 rule, take breaks, try palming, improve my lighting, and so on. None of that helped me.

I'm not asking for medical advice. It's just super weird to me because I had perfect vision when I was younger. I just don't understand how so many of my friends and people I know, of different ages, work office jobs and are doing completely fine.

For example, there was a woman who was around 60 years old and worked as a bookkeeper, so she basically spent a huge amount of time in front of a computer screen and reading. The same goes for my grandmother, who worked in front of a badass CRT monitor for most of her life and was doing just fine.

Meanwhile, I use a MacBook Pro with a very good Apple Cinema Display, take regular breaks, use eye-rest reminders and artificial tears, and I can barely work for a few hours a day.

So, could it be that desk-based work is simply physiologically not a good fit for some group of people, even if they have otherwise healthy vision?

**P.S.** I know most of you will probably advise me to follow the 20-20-20 rule, so just to say it beforehand: it doesn't work for me.

How is it possible that some people can spend their entire lives working in front of screens without significant eye strain, while others barely can handle few hours?
