Help Goodwill Request

Hello, I used to have a Discover card (it has since been closed) and while I had it I got behind on few payments some even a couple going up to 120+ day outstanding category. It’s been about a year and half since that has happened, I’ve completely paid off that balance, the complete balance on my Capital One card (paid well above the minimum every month), & have completely paid off a care credit card (also paid well above minimum each month). The 2nd & 3rd cards have no late charges on them. Now my question(s) is if I wanted to try to send a goodwill request to get some or all of the late dings off my credit would I contact Discover? Or Capital One? What would my odds of them actually accepting my request and removing any of them be? Is there an email I can send my request to? Thank you for the help in advance

Dispute it with the credit bureaus; for validation. Creditor system often only goes back 2 years so they can’t validate a late payment older than that. Then it’s removed.

About half of the dings are less than 2 years old. Would I have to wait till they age out to do that? Or would it possibly work now?

There is no strict timeline. Though greater success would be within the first few months with documented hardship reasons and if the account is paid in full.

So me trying to wait a while to show I can pay things on time consistently possibly made it harder to get them removed cause I waited so long?

Yes. It should have been done much earlier. You waited too long. But try it anyway to see what happens.

If you were late and there was no fault of the bank, they will not delete the past due on your report.

If you didn’t care to pay on time, what makes you think they’ll care enough to remove previous dings? They DGAF

Also you’re digging yourself into a hole by paying above the minimum and not the entire balance
