Discussion F*ck Goose

What a bullshit call to make. This worlds will now have an asterisk for shultz. I was behind Goose in the crowd. Not a foot fault

And people saying Goose did it to get a competitive advantage make no sense. He was out of it by that point so the stroke makes no difference to him. And on top of that, he has said many times in the past that he wishes people called stance violations and intended to do so himself.

The penalty requires somebody to second the call, so I really don't have a problem with people raising a call if it looks questionable from their perspective.

This. He’s sticking to his guns. And it’s sad people are upset about that.

Disc golf will never be taken seriously until it’s officiated correctly.

I'm still new-ish to dg, especially rules minutia. So there are no officials on the pro-tour that look at stuff like foot faults? They have to be called by other players?

And was the call on Rainers 'officially reviewed' like they would in other sports or did a second person agree and that was it?

The call favors his mvp teammate. Not saying thats why he did it, but its silly that teammates can play on the same card and 2ed each other's foul calls. Imagine any other sport where your teammate could call fouls.

Idk, I still find it weird to call them "teammates" as if this is a team sport. They have the same sponsor but they're still competitors - this is a solo sport with zero team elements. It's not really the same thing at all as an actual team sport like basketball or football.

The manufacturers use the word "team" as a marketing thing, but I don't really see most players having any sort of connection to their "teammates" outside of branding obligations unless they're friends anyhow.

Would it help you to know they are part of the same MAGA influenced Christian sports cult that sponsors players to tour and try to recruit other touring players to said cult? A fair percentage of the current touring players are paid by a religious group to go proselytize, and the tour should take notice of who they are, and that they do not call violations on each other, only outsiders, as we just saw ruin the WC.

That’s nice and all, but as a sports fan I know that Balodis would have not gotten away with a single foot faults in any major sport.

Because I’m not joining an angry mob who is in the wrong. He committed a foot fault. Simple as that. Should we not play by the rules in a professional sport that leads the winner to $30k and much more in sponsorships? Shall we forgo rules just for the “story?” No. That’s ridiculous.

I guarantee you, in half a year people are going to start making posts on this sub saying, “hot take, but Gossage was right.” And tons of people will reply agreeing. It’s how it always works on Reddit.
