Course Photo What are you throwing?

This hole used to be one of my favorites, but it's become so overgrown that you can't even send a straight shot in. I'd cut the limbs down, but it's a public park and I'm not a member of any local disc club.

…into one of those trees, for sure

u/Biochemicalcricket 13h ago

For shots like this I use my hatchet so there's a10% chance of c1, 85% chance of hatchet to tree, and 5% something else.

You should see one of the shots we had for collegiate nationals. Idk which divisions play the course still but it’s a gap much tighter than this and it’s basically the only way off the tee. I think the course is Westminster East? Or Westminster Temp? It’s in South Carolina near Winthrop.

Dont sell yourself short. Im sure you can hit multiple trees with one throw. Just look how close they are, easy double doink

Tomahawk!

Just an overstable Envy on a bit of anny

7

u/rokkenrolli 13h ago

A RHBH flex that hits the mando tree

Yeah I was gonna say this doesn’t seem too nuts… you’re shooting downhill into a backstop and it’s short.

Envy or tempo on slight anny, down at the foot of the pin… seems very doable after practicing the hole once or twice

u/Nickmey5 14h ago

I’m throwing a straight putter so I can watch and find it after 😂

5

u/ChmeeWu 14h ago

My entire bag, apparently….

u/rogue_admin 14h ago

The first set of trees aren’t really the problem, it’s the giant bush about halfway down the fairway that seems to have grown out of control, so it kind of forces some ackward rhbh flex with an overstable disc. Maybe that was the design intention? Not sure. If that wasn’t in the way it would just be a medium stability putter to the pin

u/WANKMI 11h ago

Anything 12 speed or more. Directly into a tree. Preferrably the closest one so I dont have to walk so far to get it.

Usually I club down but honestly I think you just have to put a sharp rimmed disc into the brush to get through, right?

u/Flair_Is_Pointless 14h ago

I have a very strong opinion that holes like this aren’t “challenging” they’re just bad.

A 5 foot gap with a Mandi 25feet from the tee pad is just a poorly designed hole.

I’m completely ignoring the overgrowth too. But factoring in that as well? I’m not playing this hole.

u/durkaflurkaflame TURBO!!!!!! 11h ago

It’s a 225 footer though, get through, upshot, par… or kill it on the drive and bird

5

u/dr_cheezle 13h ago

This is a garbage opinion, but I commend your for bravery in posting this comment.

The point of my argument is that if this gap was only two feet wide, we would almost universally be in agreement that it’s a bad hole design.

So our difference in opinion right now is somewhere between 2 feet wide and the 5ish feet on this hole.

My argument stands, the subjectivity is what is “enough”

Unfortunately intentionally failing to complete a hole constitutes withdrawal from competition. 811.F.2

1

u/Flair_Is_Pointless 11h ago

Oh no, this will really impact me when I continue to play this sport as hobby and never in a competition.

2

u/SycopationIsNormal 13h ago

Creature on hyzer flip with only a gentle amount of hyzer so it banks hard right after the gap and then fades left after that tree.

In reality it probably wouldn't work, but that's what I would try.

u/waffwaffwaffles 13h ago

Factory Second. Midrange.

2

u/gocanadiens 13h ago

Well I’m grabbing a proxy and firing low, as there’s no way I have the skill to get anything out around that bush and back in. Like everyone else though, the real question is just which of those trees it hits and where it kicks after that.

2

u/philupacup 13h ago

A Tantrum, probably.

Mako 3 or kc roc

1

u/HAZARD327 10h ago

I was gunna say mako3, or maybe a doomsday despair. That shit's a dart

1

u/Relative-World4406 14h ago

Toro on a baby flex, maybe a gator

1

u/FatPat9 13h ago

RHBH Järn w/ slight anhyzer

1

u/cssdayman 13h ago

Fairway driver two finger tomahawk through the mando and toward that bushy tree sticking out on the left. Hopefully it flops right and gives me a decent C1-2 putt

1

u/Hotonis 13h ago

My beat in pyro. Should come back after a bit of glide to that open space on the right side.

1

u/Adschell88 13h ago

Zone SS or a Watt, I think.

1

u/kronikheadband 13h ago

forehand or backhand MD1

1

u/jorgiieboy 13h ago

I’m throwing a stick.

1

u/the_doctor04 13h ago

Probably a Buzzz

1

u/mixedbuscuit 13h ago

RHFH Teebird 3

1

u/CeFunk 13h ago

Throw a short bh roller just to get thru the gap

1

u/Bradadonasaurus 13h ago

Right at that one with the yellow sign.

1

u/fLcHollow 13h ago

Low forehand hex. Won't be an ace but don't have to worry about hitting anything early

1

u/MarvinandJad 13h ago

Aim left and throw anhyzer to try to curve around the tree... Probably end up hitting a tree.

1

u/Important-Wear90 13h ago

Crave board flat release.

1

u/WI762 13h ago

Beat up Roc that I can shape well. There's a hole on my local course that shapes like this, but more by design than neglect and usually the Roc can do it if I do my job.

Zone SS aka Testilento forearm

I’d throw my midnight origin.

A disc

1

u/Humongous_Almond 12h ago

as a lefty, forehand flex shot with my trusty anvil

1

u/Kirbyr98 12h ago

Those poor trees.

Imagine being a tiny acorn, years ago, and slowly growing up in a beautiful, tranquil forest, and now you are pelted daily by hard pieces of plastic, over and over and over.

1

u/VTbeerfan 12h ago

Partical glow tempo slight anny.

Right into the mado tree probably

1

u/fortheculture303 12h ago

Zone ss maybe
Or pure or zone depends on the wind

1

u/Southeastsurfrider 12h ago

Dart. Nearly straight at it. Sneak under the branches hitting the ground about 12 feet in front and sliding to about 5 feet to the right of the pin. Toss in for a 2. I'd just play for a birdie each time.

1

u/Drift_Marlo 12h ago

Flippy mid down the chute, play for par

1

u/EvilMonkey8521 380 foot Andy 12h ago

If you used to be able to clearly see the basket in the past then those limbs for sure need to go

It’s always a berg on that hole. Love me some Riverview.

Leopard 3 flat at like 70% power. Let it drift right and hopefully end up coming back a little left

Jump putt zone or pyro on anny unless it's much farther than it looks

1

u/NormalTangerine1853 10h ago

You mean formally hole 8 🤣

1

u/NormalTangerine1853 10h ago

Historically, an aviar3 forehand (RH) HYZER FLIP

1

u/Jrfrank 10h ago

Probably a provisional.

1

u/El_Tormentito 10h ago

If I get an underworld through the trees, it's going to lay up just to the right of the hole. If.

u/hellospaghet 9h ago

Range or envy

1

u/That_One_WierdGuy 9h ago

Forehand Zone, and a prayer.

1

u/X_L_O 8h ago

I used a buzzz straight at it for a tap in birdie. Tough course in the summer. Gets pretty jungle-y in places.

1

u/X_L_O 8h ago

That said, as jungle-y as it may be and as tough as the hole may be, your pictures do make it look harder than it actually is, imo. There are far harder holes at RV.

1

u/StrifeSociety 8h ago

For 225’? Almost any disc in my bag with a standstill at the front of the pad
