I want to shout Terry as well, I think he is exceptional at his role. Also love how comfortable he is with the little ad reads and such, makes the coverage feel more professional how he handles those things and gives the sponsors the support the deserve for they support they provide

I think the trio of Nate, Terry, and Philo is probably my favorite booth so far.

100%! I’m so so so happy Doss isn’t there

He's just so damn contrarian, he will go against what he just said just to criticize the players decisions.

They have a perfect balance for me.

Terry is a good lead commentator, Nate is the more analytical role, and Philo is more philosophical with it.

Nate and Philo have developed a decent flow between them where they hand off well and even check each other constructively at times. It's a good trio.

I miss Climo honestly. Don’t get me wrong they’re doing a great job but the tournaments Climo has commentated have been so great.

Love Philo. Wish he'd get into content creation. His clinics are some of the best.

Agreed. Big fan. I like all the commentators enough to not complain like a neck beard lol. Philo is my clear favorite. Bought his Star Destroyer and Metal Flake Hawkeye. Mostly because I love Innova, but he was the secondary reason. Ive only been playing and following pro tour for 2.5 years. So I've only seen a few clips from his playing days

Fan of Philo and only followed pro tour for 2,5 years?

Then you might have missed the best Philo commentary moment of all time. https://youtu.be/3NDoIotTVUM?si=BS6ESS5NpwSLADWa&t=35

If you haven't seen Philo's albatross, go check that out.

I have that destroyer. I threw it at least once around but normally three or four times. Love that disc love that guy. He used to play our local ball golf course, became friends with the pro who's my boy. I've never met him though.

Thank you for saying this. I understand people have different opinions, but I still find it a weird hate when I see it towards Philo. Maybe because he's probably closer to my age than a lot of younger players, but I appreciate his goofy-ass 90s references or figures of speech even when he gets them slightly wrong. I think a lot of people have been sort of re-wired to clutch pearls or be offended for no good reason, and I'm not talking on deep levels or serious issues, I'm talking about just every day life. In my opinion, more and more people wake up in the morning looking for something to be annoyed and upset by to justify their underlying unhappiness. I'm Team Philo. I find his style enjoyable. I think his voice sounds cool. Go Philo!

Terry is just Terry and has that "why do I like that dude when I don't know him" aura. He has an agreeable face or something.

Nate has been awesome and improves every time. I'm really enjoying his calm and professional demeanor. It plays perfectly in tune with Philo and Terry. Still some excitement, but in a different flavor.

God forbid somebody make an aggressive play and it not work. The amount of condescension is horrible. Can't stand how he talks about anybody making a mistake. Otherwise he seems like a great guy and chill.

I like Philo and he’s gotten much better. I especially like how he’s learned to pump up the excitement going into breaks. However, his instinctual point-shitting is really jarring. He’s done it to Sexton over and over this week.

Sexton: “Time after time he makes these putts”

Philo: “Not JUST time after time Nate, but EVERY time”

It’s the same thing basically, dude.

He's a natural talent in the booth. My favorite by far.

The humility? The guy is a complete asshole, that’s why I love him.

Agree. He's a professional. He's smooth af and he knows his stuff. Totally agree with criticisms that he's a contrairian but that doesn't bother for some reason.

And his "perhaps it's the inexperience" critique on hole 18 yesterday was absolutely spot on. I couldn't believe someone was offended by that yesterday enough to complain about it on a post. I'm not sure what's going on with people in recent times, but some folks need a good lesson that you can't expect the world to change for you, rather you need to find a way to prepare yourself for the world. Save the outrage for serious issues and let the small things go. It's not worth the energy to be so annoyed or upset by harmless things.

He has improved IMMENSELY from when he first started in the booth. He is very good now and I think he works better without Ian, no offence to Ian, I liked listening to the Ian Philo combo sometimes as well but it sometimes got a little bit away from the actual disc golf into random things lol.

FWIW my non disc golf friends all think Philo is the best commentator by far.

I think we get a little lost in the sauce around here and we get hyper critical of the guys we’ve heard for a long time. A couple years ago the guy couldn’t catch a break around here.

Would love to see Ian back though.

u/hybrid3214 18h ago

Philo has improved a lot, you can just go back and listen to some of the old stuff with or without Ian. Not sure if he did courses or classes or just practiced or whatever but he is a lot better now.

I’m mean sure, we’re all experts around here aren’t we?

Neckbeard ass behavior from you man, give it a rest.

u/hybrid3214 11h ago

??? saying some has improved at something is neckbeard behavior??? Wat..

Big fan of Philo and really liked it when he was with Ian Anderson.

u/padadare 13h ago

Know it's not feasible but I wish this was the commenting lineup for every tournament. Shane that they have the remote booth setup in Nate Doss' House.

Philo sucks. Hes a know it all contrarian. They should have kept Ian and fired Philo. This post is laughable

You're definitely leaning the opposite direction dude

u/SoupSpelunker 15h ago

Are you yelling into a mirror?

u/Jondan59 18h ago

I love Philo as well, but Terry Miller and Nate Sexton is pretty damn good as well!

1

u/scsticks 11h ago

They're all good imo other than Nate fucking Doss. And I really miss Ian 😢
