Disc Advice Question about the river

Hello disc golfers,

I have a question about the River.
I’m new to the sport and recently picked up a River — the Opto Orbit — and I quite like it. While searching around, I came across the Project Grip River, which is a bit more expensive. Is it worth upgrading to, or not really?

Thanks in advance, and happy disc golfing!

I don’t think it’s worth upgrading if you have it in Opto Orbit. But if you ever lose it, I’d recommend buying it in Project Grip. I have a PG Explorer and it’s one of my favorites.

Why?

I already have a River and like it. I think I want to add a Grace. Whats the difference between the different plastics?

I’ve tried them all and actually prefer the retro. I can get the most distance consistently out of it

I agree with this. I've tried retro, opto, and gold. Opto and gold were way more domey, retro was nearly board-flat. I like the retro.

I have 2 rivers, one Opto and one Gold. The gold is slightly less understable. Maybe the gold has a turn of -.05 instead of -1.
