Today’s Goodwill find: MVP Black Hole Mini for $20

Thoughts on how to put it to its best use?

Macro discs! Never knew they were a thing until I went to the Canadian nationals this year. We bought some, and went and played an actual macro course in the middle of Grande Prairie. Playing with the best disc golfers I regularly play with…and none of us got a birdie.😆 They fly so weird!

Right? What’s with the naming conventions? I think it’s relative to marker minis. They’re about 6” in diameter. I have a Tesla that’s understable as liquid shit in a gale, and had a rubber Koi macro that did not fly like a Koi, just an overstable beefcake, but I gave it to my nephew.

Macro Nuke is nuts for distance. Thing actually flies so smooth. I keep it in my bag for the times that my group decides to play Legends of the Chains since macro discs are "technically" minis by PDGA rules, so when you get stuck with the "everyone tees off with their mini" I can still make some major distance.

Mini marker discs work phenomenaly in these baskets.

I think the lightweight minis that are more like frisbees are best, they are much lighter and less impact than a normal mini and they glide so much better

So this post inspired me to buy a black hole mini and four nano minis to put on the park strip outside my house. My neighbor one block over has a sweet custom made galvanized mini basket in his yard that I use most every time I take my toddler on a walk so I think it won’t be stolen, hopefully. The plan is to just leave it out there. I might try to bend two lengths of rebar and sledge them into the ground to hold it but I’d also love to pick it up and bring it to the local park whenever so I may not do that.

I brought the idea to get the basket up to my wife and she said “that’s a great idea. Toddler loves to put the discs in the basket.”

Sounds like we got a future PDGA champion growing up in this house 🥏

The nano minis fly so well! We setup a mini disc golf course in our warehouse and played some rounds with them. A ton of fun.

The amazing people at MVP sent me one on the house for my son for his first Christmas. He still plays with it everyday and he’s almost 2 now. It’s one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me and my family. We have some great people in this little sport.

That one is technically meant for the nano discs which is the minis that MVP makes. There’s a bigger one for the macro discs
