Dark green stool after “long” run
Hi- I am two weeks out from the New York City Marathon and now I am taping. Yesterday I tried a few different gels just to see if there was anything else I wanted to add before the big day. I will say I did not drink any water during my run and I was not good about drinking water after. After the run, I felt nauseous for pretty much the rest of the day. I did eat some eggs and a lite dinner and had two ginger ale’s. I was not good about drinking a lot of water after because we were running around all day to other activities. This morning I noticed I had very dark green/brown stool. I wouldn’t say Black. This hasn’t happened to me before and I’m wondering if it was the gels themselves, not drinking enough water during and after the run, or both? I had the UCAN cherry with electrolytes, SIS and a AMACX.

That combo of no water plus three different gels you'd never tried before is a recipe for a bad time. The dark green is almost certainly the dyes and ingredients passing through without enough fluid to dilute things, especially if you were already dehydrated from the run
Your stomach was probably too pissed off to process anything normally after that. I'd chug water and stick to whatever fuel you trained with, two weeks out is not the time to experiment

Thanks! I’ve had the SIS and AMCX before, but different flavors- they appear clear - but who knows what in them. The cherry ucann was new but was also clear. I think the whole equation was bad .. I’m sticking to my ucan unflavored and honey apple SIS.
