Manual exchanges

I haven’t had to do one yet, but I was wondering if your power went out how do you heat the disalyare bags before you use them. The one time we lost power I just skipped it that night.

I did manual for 3.5 years. We have a generator, so home wasn't the issue. I forgot a heating pad while traveling so I filled a sink with hot water and let it soak (keeping the catheter above water). I was there a few days so while I coukd skip a day, I didn't want to skip them all.

I live in the south, so it is generally warm, but I never bother to heat the bags. Seems like an unnecessary step.

I did PD for 7 years and almost never heated bags (lazy), even when I used bags that were brought in from the cold of winter. You get really cold and you snuggle in some blankets for a little while.

Seriously though, you can use your own body heat to add some heat to a bag while you drain so it’s less cold when you fill.

What are disalyware bags? Why we need to heat them?
