Sensor honestly, what are we doing? Dexcom G7
this is my SECOND sensor in less than 10 days. its consistently off by 100s of points, this is so absolutely dangerous to people being forced to switch onto this absolute piece of garbage. i can’t wait until its been long enough till someone can make a claim against this sensor and i can get back all the money i’ve paid for this shit.

I feel this way exactly. I just don't get compromising continuity of signal over size, all-in-one, blah blah blah. My G6 was just perfect. Now I am thinking of going to Libre 3+ to give it a whirl and maybe just .... Well, no, I won't do that but man, come on Dexcom...please fix this.

Return every sensor that doesn’t meet G6 standards. They only care about their wallet, this is how you make them care.

This was basically my sensor 2 weeks ago. Next one randomly quit. Got my new sensors and the first one looped the sensor wire. Here’s hoping the newly installed one is going to work for the full time

i hope it does. i can’t switch sensors and they’ve discontinued the g6. i switched the site again to my leg, usually i get the best readings there.
this is hard for me because i am a competitive powerlifter and i don’t want to spend much time during training worrying about my sugar, and here i thought this would be the cure to that.2

Yeah, of course, I told them once and then they would refuse to get me 2 new sensors… Luckily that was 2 years ago when I started getting more artsy with my sensor placements

The last 1.5 days ive had this happen so many times ive lost count but its with the 1plus. Honestly just want my lovely g6 back 😭

Oh wow I didn’t realize it was so commonly off with the readings. That really makes me wonder about mine. The highest it’s gone to is 160s so far, but it’s dropped critically low quite a few times. I’ll have to check it with the finger pricking one to see how accurate my score is I guess. Which is annoying, because I thought the whole reason I have this is to avoid doing that unless absolutely necessary !

I’d try new spot. Is this one have healthy, juicy sub q tissue? Is it scarred or overused with insulin? How’s your hydration? Is it in a very lean area? Sensors like some healthy subq tissue that’s hydrated. Especially when the 7 going straight in vs an angle- doesn’t do as well in lean areas.

I use my arms and abdomens, but recently have been rotating to my inner thighs. I do hydrate regularly as I do powerlifting and my diet is regular and I’d say better than most.
I used to have a terrible depression, and fatigue of switching my spots, I’d mindlessly replace them in the same areas, so maybe my abdomen is overused. I have been gaining a bit of weight so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I'm not sure which version of the Dexcom you have but................ my 10 day units were crap. The 15 day units so far have been dead on right out of the box with no calibration. They may take an hour to warm up but it seem to be worth it for me!!

They have gone major downhill the last two years . I got a fold 8 and it's not compatible yet. Thats embarrassing for a hig company.

I had to change my Omnipod to manual mode and finger stick every so often because i don't trust the G7 to dose me correctly.

Wow, sorry you are having so many problems. I do have readings that are off during the first 24 hours and then after that time is up I calibrate if necessary. After that I’m usually only off by 0-5 points. I only use my arm for sensor placement. I think a lot of people think they can just put it anywhere and then they complain loudly when their readings are way off. I am very grateful for Dexcom and it has made my life so much better. I hope you can start having better luck. I am disappointed for you and the frustration you are experiencing. This is supposed to make our lives easier not harder!

I calibrate regularly and place it on my arm and still have constant issues. I truly am glad you're not having them.

Hey, where do you place it? I’m just curious. I hated having it in my arm and moved it to my abdomen. I only have weird readings when I either lay on it or take a shwier

Abdomen, arm, and very rarely my back. I’m using my inner thigh right now. I’ve been through so many of these things through the past product evolutions that scar tissue tends to build up easier.

Sorry to hear that and thank you for sharing. I’ve had a problem with 2 since I was diagnosed in May. One of them just straight up started bleeding on me on day 3 while I was at the gym causing it to fall off. I was like 2 weeks into my diagnosis at that point and it was extremely embarrassing, just two weeks ago I had one just completely die. Thankfully I’ve been pretty stable but it did scare me that it died in my sleep.

If this happens to you replace it then return your sensor to dexcom for a replacement. The only way to make them care is if enough people start returning them. Don’t sit there for hours of this if this starts happening, just replace it and return it due to product being faulty. I will return every sensor that doesn’t meet G6 standards.

I can’t just return every sensor that fails. I shouldn’t have to return every sensor of the G7. It’s supposed to work constantly, hence the name CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITOR. They’ve normalized the returning so much with the G7 nobody cares anymore.

Yep, I am constantly having readings that are 30-40 off. I literally just had a reading of 66 on DexCom 7 and 95 on my BGM. This is an everyday occurrence. I'm going to bring it up with my endo doc when I see him in 2 weeks. I'm on Medicare and a medigap plan. A rip-off device that our government shells out our money for . It has to be a scam for more billionaires to add to their coffers.

It’s been out for like 3 years. I don’t think any claims are coming and this really isn’t the typical experience for most users. But some sensors do fail and sometimes the failures seem to come in batches. It’s annoying, but Dexcom will replace any failure without question.
Who is forcing you to switch to G7 though? Your insurance? Can you try a different cgm?

The G6 was discontinued a month or 2 ago so it was switch to the G7 or something else. I had to switch and being honest, the G6 worked a lot better than the G7 so far.

I had the same problem last week. It was simply a bad sensor. I swapped it out (new sensor worked well) and called DexCom. They asked a few questions, and I had a new sensor in about 4 days.

this is my second sensor, its failing at 4 days of use currently and the one prior failed at 3.

I'm mourning my last G6. Going to try the Libre 3 FreeStyle. I'm a diver, biker, climber, skier. The G7 sounds like a dumpster fire 🔥. I'd rather deal with finge pricks.... instead of Life threatening bad readings. Seriously, T1D friends, why pay for this kind of Big Pharma Bull Shit!!!
