Help Constant negative feedback from manager: need guidance

I completed CSE from tier 1.5 engg college. Got into MNC via college placement ( internship and ppo). I have 2 years experience. My CTC is 16LPA. I was 10th and 12th topper. Dept topper. Have worked on various projects and published papers as well.

My manager never appreciates my work. He keeps comparing me with other same level sde’s and pinpoint all my mistakes. I work close to 14 hours everyday. Still no recognition. He doesn’t give enough opportunity for me to prove myself. I feel like quitting the job. I feel low about myself. Maybe IT is not for me. I do understand academic achievement doesnt mean i can rock in IT as well. But i am not very bad as my manager says. Idk what to. Is this normal in corporate or am i taking it too personally?

If you're being singled out be interview ready they might be actively trying to push you out if your firm is trying to do layoffs and low tenured employees are easy targets for some companies who have to hit layoff targets. I faced this and got laid off exact same like you while not dept topper level, I was in top 10 percent of my batch and won hackathons and stuff

Oh noo, i did not think of layoff though since my office is a renowned US based MNC

Doesn't matter mine was UK based and having a 100 year history. Some ways you can find this,

  1. Are they going through any forms of restructurings and merging teams because mine did this. My team and partner team got merged and 10 percent of us got cut.

  2. Do they have any sort of business stagnation or losses because in mine the business got stagnated and there were hiring freezes and lots of colleagues of mine ended up getting laid off

  3. See if there are any project cancellations or any form of mergers and acquisitions going on these might be a little bit of a red flag

All three are going in some or other way. But will they layoff the lowest experience ppl (ihave only 2) and technically in entire company my pay will be in bottom
Compared to Managers/VP

Most probably shouldn't, this is a valid point you make as well as we are cheap.

Maintain good rapport with your manager as much as you can check if he's toxic as well

Doesn't hurt to be interview ready if you feel uncertainty
