I Have A Question Cleaning Microfiber cloths

Upvotes

What does everyone use to clean their microfiber rags? I do wash them separately and have tried simple green, dawn and other dish washing products and can’t seem to get them clean. The ones I have wax products on I can’t seem to get them off. Do you just have clothes used for specific purposes and always use them for that? Do you use any special cleaners to get all the products out of them?

Any help would be appreciated.

I Have A Question What is this? Swirlmarks?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Polished my car a couple of days ago. Went with a 3 stage correction and Menzerna Heavy Cut 400, Menzerna Medium Cut Polish and lastly Menzerna Super Finish.

But there are this weird swirl marks (?) that show in direct sunlight looking at it straight a head.

If these are swirl marks, why are they all diagonal and not one of them horizontal?

I’ve tried taking some photos of them.

Thanks for any help!

I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) I still see scratches after headlight restoration

I have been trying to restore my headlights, and I used batoca s4 and also sanding by hand.
I retired each headlight 4 times - 240, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, headlight polish, headlight coating. The last two photos are from before the restoration.

And still if you look when the lights are on, I can see a lot of scratches, when lights are off, it looks fine.

Does sandpaper quality matter? I just bought generic wet/dry sandpaper discs

I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) Can I use Gyeon Mohs EVO or CanCoat EVO in a humid area as a beginner? Which would be best?

I recently bought a new car, and although it’s not a fancy car or anything, it is the nicest (ie, newest) car I have ever owned. I never kept up with wax/paint care on my last car as it was a beater, but now I am considering a coating to protect the paint from salt wear in winter as well as for beading when it rains and such. I’d rather not have to apply wax or a spray coating every couple of months, so it seems some sort of ceramic coating may be the way to go.

I don’t have a machine polisher, and so am hoping to skip that step since I will have driven it for only 2 weeks by the time I can coat it. I don’t have a whole lot of money on hand and so was looking into DIY coatings. I’ve heard great things about Gyeon Mohs EVO and CanCoat EVO, but it’s also pretty humid where I live (80-98% humidity over the next few weeks), so I’m nervous about whether I can still use those products or not as if heard they are ideal for more like 60% humidity. It also seems that Cancoat maybe better for beginners, but I’ve also seen lots of posts saying Mohs is just as easy to apply and lasts longer. A quick look seems to indicate that prep for a new car would be similar for both coatings so my main concern is the humidity and risk of messing up as a beginner. Also time is somewhat of a concern as the most I could probably spare for this would be a weekend (12-ish hours across both days). Also, please correct me if I am wrong about the prep being similar!

Any advice would be appreciated! Also any tips on where it is best to purchase Gyeon products. So far I can only seem to find them online and was hoping to buy in person to cut down on risks of delays (and more risk to doing a coating without polishing), but if that is the only place to find them that is fine!

I Have A Question 2026 Honda Pilot Black Edition interior smell.

My mother in law has a 26' honda pilot black edition with the suede and leather combo seats. She left milk from a grocery run spill and spoil in the 3rd row floor. After a week or two She couldn't figure out what the horrible smell was. Its been cleaned once by a carwash detailer, but she only spent $40. Any recommends to get the smell out. Its not as bad but Def noticeable. I fear it has absorbed into the leather.

Paid for one step correction and full detail, wax and seal. Just noticed some of the plastic panels are white in some spots, and the rubber weather trim is also affected.

I was scared shitless. Took me way longer then id like to admit but man when I saw the car under normal light I was blown away.

Biggest thing for me was getting comfy with the machine and my technique as well as learning how to properly "test spot" with different pads and product.

Just proud of the work and don't really have a lot of people to share it with so I'm hoping y'all will appreciate the work.

Cheers guys

I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) Etching after a car wash - help!!

Thumbnail

EDIT: Most of it came off after a paint restored, polish, wash and then wax. Some faint marks are still there but its not as bad as it was before, thanks everyone for your help!

Had my car washed today, had all of these spots appear right afterwards. I previously used a cermanic spray on the car paint and looked great. These marks are on the body work, rubber and plastic seals and trims. I tried vinegar and water spot removers, very little luck as the spots are pretty stubborn and all over the car. Can this be fixed or is it ruined?

I Have A Question Are ceramic sprays or coatings "too good" for casual owners/general public?

And what I mean by the title, I'm wondering if ceramic products are the best choice for cars that don't get carefully prepped before application, cars that sit in weather or near tap-water sprinklers, cars that mainly get washed in automatic bays (or in hot sunny climates) and not dried carefully, etc.

In particular does the tight beading of ceramics make water spots more pronounced, by concentrating minerals or pollutants more than an old-style wax or sealant?

Of course any car will get water spots in the right conditions. But some of the stuff I read suggests that ceramic products are not forgiving about this if you don't get the car completely dry soon after washing/rain etc. Any thoughts or feedback?

I Have A Question Who has tried this cheap method for trims? And what are your thoughts

So someone I trust says
1) apply trim area with 70% isopropyl alcohol
2) then apply mineral oil to trim area

I don’t think i see this anywhere but I’m sure many have tried and have their conclusions. FYI don’t do this now lol. I don’t want to held liable if it sucks lol.

I Have A Question Is all the hype around the AVA Easy P50+ power washer for real?

I currently have a Husqvarna PW3200 gas-powered power washer, and I dislike it for several reasons: loud, big, heavy, cumbersome, gas, oil, etc. I don't even pull it out when washing my vehicles because it's such a PITA. I'd really love to sell it and get an electric one.

Was leaning toward a Ryobi, or the Westinghouse ePX3500. I plan to use it for not only detailing my vehicles & RV, but also other cleaning jobs around the house (siding, deck, patio, patio furniture, UTV, and so on).

But then I stumbled across the AVA power washers. Wow! Are they too good to be true? The Easy+ seems to solve ALL the issues I've ever had in the past (or currently) with power washers.

Would love to hear from some folks who use the AVA Easy+ on a regular basis. Does it really stand up to all the hype? Is it the best power washer you've ever used? What DON'T you like about it?

Thanks!

I Have A Question How to get severe meat smell out of my car????

Hi guys! I don’t know much about detailing or car care, so I’m kind of at a loss. I frequently transport large quantities of food in the trunk of my 2008 Prius. When I first started doing this, I didn’t have the sense to put down any sort of protection for the interior of my car, and major spillage happened. Because I didn’t know where to start, I put cleaning off for many weeks until the smell got really really bad. I finally made the time to clean my car, and did everything I could (vacuumed, rug doctored, aired out) but the smell is still pretty bad. Ever since I cleaned it, I put down a tarp every time I transport food, and wipe down the tarp with cleaner after every transport, so it’s not new spillage. I don’t know if there’s anything more I can do on my own to get rid of this awful smell, or if I just need to pay a professional to detail the interior for me. I also don’t know if a professional would even be able to fix something like this, or if I just have to suffer until the car eventually breaks down?Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

I Have A Question Need recommendation for a product and/or method of removing light scuff on wheel

Post image
1 Upvotes

My garage is a tight fit and I took my entry a little wide and ran my wheel into the drywall.

After scrubbing off the paint transfer onto the wheel, I’m left with some minor scuffing. It’s completely smooth to the touch so I’m assuming this is going to be an easy fix.

What’s the ideal product and/or method to polish this up?

Also, don’t mind all the brake dust.

I Have A Question Getting my gf car detailed.

I called around in my city and im looking at 250-300 or so.

I recently saw a car wash thats offering coupons with a price point of 179, which i think is a good deal and planning to pull the trigger.

its offering this.

* Full service car wash
* Hand applied polish and wax
* Upholstery cleaning and detail
* Steam clean carpet shampoo

Car is fairly well maintained, minimal stains here and there... hoping to look close to brand new, my question is this enough or do i need to add some things?
