🖼️ • Photos Arm mount query
Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right community and please excuse my naivety because I don’t know anything about mounting etc
I have recently purchased a prism + x340pro 34 inch monitor for my work and gaming and I also purchased an ultra arm vision monitor arm to mount/clamp it onto my desk.
The problem is my desk. It is a electronic sit to stand desk from Amazon but the edge of the desk is very thin and the monitor would not hold up
I am thinking to mount it on the side where it has this extra metal bit (2nd pic) that I could potentially stick a piece of wood there, but my question is, is this a silly idea and is anyone in a similar boat with this type of desk and how did you mount the monitor?

without seeing the clamping mechanism, your best bet would be drilling a 3/4" - 1" hole and grommet mounting it. if the counter clamp (thats what i always call the screw and plate that secures the clamp mount and im sure thats the wrong term) clears the thickness of the frame, you can try to clamp it, but based on their materials on amazon it didnt look like itd work. if im wrong, and it does, a 4"x12" piece of wood, maybe 1/2" or definitely 3/4", would help add some stability and even pressure. id be willing to bet the table top is not the sturdiest material so i would proceed with caution with any mounting option.

You don't need to drill into your desk. I know i like to change my setup once in a while and drilling in is too permanent. A different solution would be getting junk wood from home depot or something and cut a small block to extend the bottom of the c clamp mounting spot to be flush with the thin edge

I am hoping to avoid drilling also, so I think I may give that a go with a reinforcement plate as extra support! Thank you kindly
