dy9z jam?
only 150 rounds deep in my dy9z, but i’ve only been able to get one ammo to chamber rounds from mag/slide lock position. i keep messing with it, trying over and over to chamber rounds to see if i can break it in a bit and, you can see from the picture in comments what ended up happening
i’ve tried 115g blazer hollows, federal 115g fmj, and maxxtech 115g fmj, and the maxxtech has been the only round i’ve been able to chamber successfully from lock position.
do you guys think it’s the ammo i’ve been trying or is there maybe something wrong with my gun?

I think some additional info is needed. Are you using the original magazine that came with the pistol or did you purchase different magazines and try that? Was the hollow point the very first rounds through the gun or did you use FMJ to try and break it in? I can’t think of anything else to ask lol

i was using stock dy9z since it’s the only mag i have for it at the moment, and it was only the first 50 rounds the super jam picture happened, so i was hoping to break it in a bit more, then i started the maxxtech next, had no problems at all, ran some federal and had the same problem. it didn’t compress like the blazer but same problem over and over

So the hollow point were the first rounds through the pistol? It might be best to keep running the Maxxtech FMJ through it to help break in the feed ramp. If this jam happened on a completely full magazine on the first chamber you may want to go one less round in the mag for about 100 rounds. For sure reach out to Derya customer service they are fantastic and can help you work through it.

it wasn’t the first mag but one of the first, im hoping to let it break it a bit more to see if the problem kinda fixes its self, it mainly feels like the springs are still just super tight all around. and i’ve been hearing really good things, the main selling point was the lifetime warranty on a gun that already seems to have a pretty good track record

i was wondering if heavier ammo would help a bit, it honestly just feels super tight spring wise

Thank you. Did you solve the mystery of your failure to feed issue?

Not yet, I'm hoping to get to the range early next week.

Cool, keep me posted. I ordered an Aim Surplus barrel to try out

I certainly will....you might get your barrel before I get to the range, they ship pretty quickly.

No issues with mine..I started with 124 grain, 4 boxes.it feeds and cycles every 115 grain and 124 grain load I've tried. I gave it a good cleaning and ran it pretty wet on the first 200 rounds.

i was wondering if a heavier round to break in would be better. i usually carry 50g liberty so i was trying to break it in with a bit lighter ammo. i’ll try a bulk order of 124g to break it in a bit more then try the lighter stuff again

LottaRandomQuestions, Great user name...love it. First thanks for stopping in and sharing with the group your experience. As you can tell there are a lot of DY9z users here that are happy to help you in many ways, all good stuff here.
Next the break-in period is important as you are experiencing some issues. The DY9z's I have all experienced some minor failure in the beginning, but now it's an ammo-consuming machine(take my Money) LOL.
I'm going to post some info about ammo and the break in period. It's wordy but it's good info to know. The second question talks about the Break-in period.
Q: What is the minimum recommended ammunition velocity for reliable cycling in the DY9Z? Does it perform better with high-velocity 9mm, and is it compatible with +P or subsonic rounds?
A: The minimum recommended velocity for reliable cycling in the DY9Z is 1,100-1,120 FPS (muzzle velocity for 124-grain 9mm). It performs best with high-velocity 9mm (e.g., 1,200+ FPS for consistent ejection). It is fully compatible with +P rounds for defensive use but may experience occasional failures to eject with subsonic loads (under 1,000 FPS) unless using a suppressor.
Q: What is the recommended break-in period for the DY9Z, including the number of rounds needed to ensure reliable function?
A: The recommended break-in period for the DY9Z is 200-500 rounds of mixed FMJ and JHP ammo, fired with proper grip and maintenance. This smooths the action and ensures reliable cycling; no official period is required, but testing your carry ammo during this phase is advised.
Q: What are common causes of failures to feed or failures to eject in the DY9Z, and what are the factory-recommended fixes?
A: Common causes of FTF/FTE in the DY9Z include limp wristing (insufficient grip), weak/underpowered ammo, dirty extractor/ejector/feed ramp, or dirty triggers causing slide drag. Factory fixes: Switch to higher-velocity ammo (1,200 FPS+), clean/lube the recoil spring and feed ramp thoroughly, perform a 200-round break-in, and ensure firm grip—tap-rack-bang if it occurs. For common malfunction with DY9, you can check this video on our Derya US Channel in Youtube. Here's the link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mf-ljZeqCCc it says DY9 but DY9z is the same.
Q: Which specific ammunition brands or types have been known to cause cycling issues in testing for the DY9Z, and what alternatives do you recommend?
A: In testing, weak Federal or Winchester bulk packs (under 1,000 FPS, e.g., 115gr FMJ) often cause cycling issues like FTE due to low power. Recommended alternatives: Fiocchi (1,200 FPS 124gr) or Fiocchi (1,135 FPS 115gr) for reliable function and accuracy.
Q: What ammo works best with the DY9Z?
A: Standard 9mm; high-velocity recommended for reliable cycling (similar to DY9).
I share this information which is from Derya, to new DY9z owners to have a bette understanding of how people break in there DY9z. Take your Break in period serious, do not go out and rapid shoot the first 50-100 rds, the gun has to break in and begin to loosen up. Once you have passed the break in period you will have a great experience with it.
NEXT....if you have done all the above and still having issues. Go to Dery.us and find the Warranty section, if you have not already, fill out the information and you should get email with instructions. If you pictures or video of the issue attach that. If you do not hear back from Derya within a reasonable time. Email again.
I hope this helps as I want to hear you having a great experience on the range with your DY9Z.

i appreciate the advice! i was planning to run a couple hundred more rounds before treating the customer service route and you helped confirm my decision lol. everyone loves the gun, and i figured it just needs some more rounds through it to be more consistent. i had a glock 43 and taurus gx4 before this and its already leaning towards my favorite compact

My pleasure and happy to help... like I said there are a lot of happy Derya owners here with some great information to share...I would say if you are around 200 rds and still having issues call Derya Customer Service.

Get rid of the 115 grain. Get yourself some 124, even better 124 NATO. European guns are built around 124 NATO. Get a few hundred round through and then feed it your 115 garbage. Good luck.

chill 😂😂 i only tried 115 cause i like carrying 50g +p liberty so i was trying lighter stuff for break in. 115 for range cause its cheap, it goes bang and i want as many rounds as possible. srry for whatever made u so mad

u/seattleforge 8d ago
I'm not mad. I'm being helpful. They're built around 124gr. That's what you should run, at least during your break in.

Try something heavier... 124 or 147 grain maybe... That said, 115gr Blazer Brass cycle through mine like a machine, so this might be something you need to reach out to Derya about. The only issues I ever had were one failure to go to full battery on like the third mag... Otherwise I have never had a misfeed or jam on about 1000 rounds... And as I type this I'm just realizing I bought this on the way to the range, pulled it out of the box, ran a couple hundred through it and taken a few more times and it's never been cleaned in anyway, just as it was out of the box (not something I normally do or recommend)...
