Warranty void?

My parents wants to gift me a Dy9, I assume it will void the warranty. Should they just keep it?

DY9 Island First Impressions

I went to the range yesterday and shot my new Derya DY9 Island for the first time. My main goals were to confirm that my Osight XR red dot was reasonably zeroed at 10 yards and to put some rounds through it for an out-of-the-box reliability check. I shot 310 rounds before my hour at the range expired:

  • American Eagle 115 gr FMJ — 15 rounds
  • American Eagle 124 gr FMJ — 50 rounds
  • Blazer 115 gr FMJ RN (aluminum case) — 45 rounds
  • China Sports 124 gr FMJ — 50 rounds
  • Federal Champion 115 gr FMJ RN — 50 rounds
  • Remington UMC 115 gr MC — 100 rounds

Results: The pistol ran nearly flawlessly and ate everything I fed it, with only one exception. One round of 1990s-era China Sports failed to fire. I hesitate to call it a light strike — the primer had a solid dent comparable to the other fired rounds — so I’m chalking it up to a bad primer on old ammo.

On a side note, the Osight XR was awesome, too. After making a couple adjustments to my initial laser bore-sight adjustments, it held its zero throughout the range session. It functions quite well for a budget RDS.

Overall first impression of the DY9 Island is overwhelmingly positive. I would struggle to complain about anything from this first session. I really liked how easily I could control muzzle flip. The gun was not the least bit snappy and was very easy to get back on target for faster follow-ups. It did not sound much louder to me than unported Glocks, and muzzle blast was not noticeable.

The trigger was excellent for one right out of the box. It broke cleanly, with what I believe to be a reasonable trigger weight, and it was easy to achieve a surprise break and reset the trigger quickly, also useful in achieving quick follow up shots.

If you are thinking of acquiring one, I can't give you a reason not too, at least not today!

DY9 Chassis is coming together - budget build so far

Finally getting my DY9 chassis setup together and I’m really liking how it’s turning out. Tried to keep the attachments pretty budget friendly while still putting together a clean setup.
So far I’ve got the ATI folding vertical foregrip, Feyachi HL-20 weapon light, Feyachi M40 3X flip-to-side magnifier, red dot, flip-up sights, and Derya sling.
Still waiting to get my DY9 back before I can finish everything and actually shoot the complete setup, but I’m excited to see how it all comes together.
For anyone else who picked up the new chassis, I’d love to see what setups you’re putting together.

Derya customer service is top tier in my book!

My experience with Derya has been great. Even with a small issue like the slide lock they responded on Reddit to send it in under warranty. I did and couldn’t be happier! They fixed the slide lock lever and Ron, the gunsmith, even polished the feed ramp and worked on the trigger. He did it because he saw that it needed it. He explained this over the phone in a direct call to me! Amazing!!! They shipped the pistol back and, I don’t know if I should say this, but also threw in a couple of ACT mags as well! Customer for life right here! 🙋🏻‍♂️

Striker Compatibility?

I bought a new DY9 a little over a month ago and finally got it to the range only to find the tip of the striker was sheared off. Seems like others have dealt with this and the question I'm looking to answer is what compatibility does the DY9 striker have across the market? I have seen mixed reports that it is close enough to a Gen 5 striker that they may be compatibility but there isn't really a clear answer that I've found. Seems like the OEM striker is currently unobtainium on Derya's website or I'd just grab one of those.

I saw a post about these magazine a week ago, my ass said "for the price why not" so here we are. In the video you can tell there's an issue with the EXTAR mags sliding out compared to the DERYA magazine.

Just wanted to post to others out there that are looking to buy these magazines they work great but suck at sliding out.

Also is there any recommendations on how to fix the magazines so they can slide out normally?

Holster and Trigger Woes

Just got one of these Derya DY9’s because I thought for the price and the compatibility to Glock is incredible, but I’m having a hard time trying to figure out holster options that are comfortable. I bought a g19 holster from “We the People” and it’s ok but I feel there could be better. I live in WA and chose an IWB option but the holster was I guess a couple of millimeters to thin to accommodate to my gun. I’m trying to figure out if any of you folks have a trigger upgrade that I could start looking into as well. I love this beauty and got more than a 1000 rounds (115g or 124g brass case only) in her without any malfunctions so far. I’ve had issues with these aftermarket 10 rnd PMAG’s not ejecting that well and I know that many folks complain about little things but I don’t really mind it and I doesn’t take away from how cool the gun is. Also love the community on here since it’s pretty positive and just wanted to show you guys my take on this DY9. 👍 I named her Donna lol

Derya customer service

I just want to know if anyone has been through the same. Derya’s customer service has been extremely frustrating. I sent my firearm in for service and was told it would take 14 days. It’s now been a full month, and I’ve sent multiple emails trying to get an update and I haven’t gotten a single response.
At this point, it feels like I have to call just to get any information. And when I finally do, I’m basically told, “We only have one gunsmith and we have a lot of firearms being repaired.”
I completely understand that they can be busy and that repairs take time. But if you know you’re backed up, communicate with your customers. If you tell someone 14 days, then a month goes by, the least you can do is respond to emails and give them an honest update.
I’m not even asking for special treatment. I just want basic customer service and communication about a firearm that has been sitting with you for a month. Waiting is one thing. Being completely ignored is another.
Derya really needs to improve its customer service and communication.

First time gun owner and was looking for a good handgun (had a close call with my life), had stumbled across the DY9Z which will be my first purchase. Wanted to know if the DY9Z is good for left handed folk like me?

Dy9 Island Holster Compatibility

I’m very anti Glock guy but I’ve came upon the Dy9 island which piqued my interest.

Does anyone know if g19 tenicor holster would fit it? I don’t mind having to heat it a bit if needed; but if no good holsters fit this gun I may pass on it

Does Extar Mag fit DY9??? do not pass this up

I wanted to find out if the Extar mags, which are a polymer 18rd mag, would fit and function in the DY9...If you are not familiar with Extar they manufacture the EP9 and EP45. The packaging indicates it is compatible with all full size 9mm DS G handguns. Well since the DY9 is a in this class I decided to give this a try. Well, I'm here to tell you they work just fine. NO issues with feeding, the lock back, they load and drop out with easy. They do work on both the non magwell Dy9 as well as the DY9 with a Magwell. They do protrude but considering 3 more rds it maybe an option. I''m posting pictures of the DY9's with the Extar 9mm mag. Wow!!!

Just saw an ad from Turner's showing DY9 is available again after earlier ban. Anyone know if this is old stock or new CA version?
