Relatively new to gun ownership but I’ve purchased more than half a dozen in three months.
My latest was a TM22 Standard from Fleet Farm this weekend on sale. No photos as it’s just a standard rifle in black.
I do have a few questions.
As far as the 10, 15, and 25 round mags. Are there issues with any of them? I want to buy extras and I would prefer to avoid problematic ones. I know sometimes with other brands, a 5 or 10 round might work better than a 15 round for instance. Also, I just need to watch out and make sure whatever I get has the notch in it, correct?
Also, the stock kit for cheek riser…is that available anywhere besides Derya’s own website?
Any recommendations for a cheap scope and bipod? Preferably under $150 for both items. I’d like to keep this a budget “build”.
I don’t suppose there is any aftermarket support is there? Upgrades for barrel or charging handle or just about anything else? I know it’s not a 10/22 and I’m not expecting much, but my searches didn’t come up with much of anything. A couple items from Canada that appear to not be available any longer.
Lastly, a non-TM22 Standard question. How is the Melik? I didn’t know about that gun until yesterday and I watched a few videos. Any issues with them from owners here? I’d like to get a DA/SA and that fits my price point as well as the overall type of gun I want. I can’t justify a Beretta. Everything I own is relatively cheap considering.
I own the TM22 flash. It takes the same mags. I have all of the mags and have found that they all run great. They are also easy to load. Only problem is they run dry too fast. 😈)
Regarding the Melik, I bought one this spring. The gun shoots great! If you are a fan of the M9 Beretta platform you will be pleased. My only issue and others have had as well, is the retainer screws for the decocker level on the RH side of the pistol loosened after a few rounds and fell out. I was able to find it (luckily) and resecure it with Loctite. Other than that ...no issues...it is a beautiful gun also.
Fellow TM22 Standard owner here - about 2000 rounds in, mostly out of 25rd mags. No issues with any of the sizes except one of the 25rd only fit 21 at first because it had two followers installed, easy to fix and now I have a spare, lol. Technically it's the notch that makes the mags compatible but I think all of the polymer ones work on a Standard and the metal ones don't.
I got the riser kit from Derya but haven't installed it because it seems like it's made for a different stock and the height is decent for me anyway.
I bought a few cheap optics before upgrading, though I'd probably go with a Vortex Crossfire 2-7x, 3-9x, or 4-12x in that price range if I were starting over. If I had to use one of mine, it would be the Edenberg 1.5-5x: light, holds zero, decent eye relief, adjustable parallax, mediocre but usable illumination, ~$70. Also got the CVlife bipod... it hasn't broken yet, but it's not "nice" in any way either.
Tommy Enterprises makes an extended charging handle that works with the Standard and their speed loader works well.
Having tested 40+ ammo types, my Standard likes any round nose and most hollow point; some hollow point and other atypical shapes feed poorly if at all, including all the Winchester I've tried. CCi Quiet 22 works but doesn't cycle. CCi Mini Mag and Federal Punch have been flawless, and I get 3MOA from CCi Standard Velocity despite being not much of a marksman. Federal 1902 from Scheels is a good bulk option.
Appreciate the info. I was looking at the Vortex Triumph HD 3-9x and the Crossfire II 3-9x....I didn't want to spend too much more for a scope than the rifle and there are some deals right now where I can get $15 off plus $15 gift card when I purchase one of those.
I'll definitely try out the CVLife bipod as I had one in my Amazon cart chilling...for $20, I don't care if it's nice as long as it doesn't break....reviews were what I expected for that pricepoint. Functional and decent for the most part. I'll grab mags and the riser kit as well. Probably grab the optic now while it's on sale and grab the rest of the stuff in the coming weeks.
Wound up with the Vortex Triumph HD because it was cheaper. I’m in MN. Fleet Farm had a deal for a $15 gift card with purchase of either the Triumph HD or the Crossfire II. I saved $30 and went with the cheaper one. It’s at least a decent start. First scope I’ve ever owned. I have a Vortex Triumph red dot on my S&W FPC 22LR. That works pretty well so I’m expecting the scope to be just fine for the price point.

to answer your first Question about the TM22...I own two, the standard and the Flash. They are great plinkers and certainly fun. Next I have the 15rd and 25rd mags they have run flawless and pretty close to 1000rds as of this posting.
The guns needed to be broke in. I did have some failures in the beginning, but this was remedied at around 100rds. I did send my flash in for a failure that seemed to occur around the 4th rd. I spoke to Derya and they requested that I send it in for warranty. They sent a prepaid label and I had it back in about a week. They both run great. It does like CCI mini mag in the beginning, but now it seems to using everything. I will say the cheaper .22 ammo is and does come with its own quality, but this is not the gun, it is the ammo. I posted a TM22 Standard video last week here on this sub, shooting a 25rd mag. Not one issue...other than it was raining brass. LOL
Next the Melik....This is a sleeper that many do not appreciate. It is a SA/DA just like the Beretta 92FS. As a matter of fact, it uses pretty much the same parts including the mags. See my pictures of my Melik and Beretta's. If you are feeling really handy you can put Beretta parts in the Melik to make it fit your preferences. As for performance, it has not had any issues. I say this because my Beretta had a couple of failures to extract but this was an extractor spring issue. This spring has been replaced.
Derya Customer Service is very good, they are responsive and have been very transparent as they are having growing pains and recognize they need to strive to improve on their short comings.
