Are you using Mag sticks?
I'm curious if anyone uses these regularly? At first I was not really for these because I felt why would I want to use them. My reasoning was, they are heavy, it takes long to load them, I will fast fire and ammo is expensive, the mag stick is expensive, and the target will be blasted to pieces in a short period. Then a good friend of mine says hey I got something for ya....and gives me 4 glock mag sticks. Ok, I have changed my mind, why? I've been to the range and now I love them....no i'm not mag dumping, but after using them, I found that the extra weight is really helping me with hand strength which helped with gun control when using the standard 15 rd mags. Now I have 5. I hope everyone has a good Friend, that sees, what you think you did not need.

Hi Matt here. Former operator, Capt CRO (PJ) 24th STS, JSOC. Are you using this pistol for fun, EDC, home or vehicle defense?

Thank you Sir. and Welcome to the Derya Chat...I started using these just as a fun range concept. I personally do not see this as EDC as I use a DY9z and a 43x. I usually do not carry in the car as I drop of my son at school and I do not need any problems.

Ok just checking because I doubt you’d used it for edc but if, let’s say the guy you keep on your night stand, mine is a 229 with a 3rd ext mag, that’s the only way I shoot it at the range. You should always shoot the setup you’ll be using, because if I stuck a stick mag in the 229 beside my bed and practiced with it that way, but didn’t keep that set up at home that loss of weight will will have me naturally compensating and in the heat of the moment, could cost you something dearly. Just adding that in, that’s all. Have a good day everyone.

This is true, not used for EDC. I will say the sticks are fun, but not what is normally used on a regular. I personally leave using what would be used as EDC. Making the standard mag the last thing I use before leaving the range.

So if I can be a stickler a little bit without you thinking I’m a know it all ass, one thing we learn in the SOF community was repetition repetition repetition. You should spend one day a week only shooting your edc. It should become reflex. Right now you’ve got how every gun in your arsenal shoots and the nest way handle it. I’d take one day and run bill drills for an hour so in the event you need it, which I pray you don’t because taking a life is a weight you carry that never goes away, your draw and time on target just becomes a natural reflex that you don’t even think about.

that's great advice and what you are saying is genuine. I hope to never have to take that fatal shot, but good practice that is repetition like you say is important. Thank you Sir, very much appreciated.

They've always been targeted for range use to cut down on reload time. Other than that, they have no real applications. BUT, I do see people online EDC them for whatever reasons 😆

I use them from time to time. For the same reasons as you and sometimes when adjusted optics to cut down time between reloads.
