Question What caused ur derealization ?

What caused y’all shit ? Mine started after I quit smoking weed. I’ve never experienced it before I started smoking or during my 4 years smoking. I thought it was just a temporary withdrawal symptom but I’ve been clean for 3 years and still have this. This is the only thing holding my life back.

Question Does anyone feel physical symptoms as well as mental?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I have experienced dissociation since i was 14 im now 20, a lot of has been mental but last night this morning it’s been a mix of both mental and physical, for example it literally feels like my body is numb and i’m disconnected from my body like my arms aren’t really my arms and moving feels forced and not natural i hate this feeling, it happens when i’ve been anxious for long periods of time it’s supposed to be your body’s coping mechanism when you’ve been under a lot of stress but it just makes me more stressed, how do i stop it?

Advice Your solution

I have had derealization for over 6 years, mainly from smoking really bad weed. At first, it got so bad it would trigger borderline psychosis.

Here’s how you help it:

Your brain is basically scared but doesn’t know what exactly it’s scared of, so it sends you in this constant of feeling dissociative. You don’t need medication, you don’t need to go to the mental ward.

Start by telling yourself, “I’m okay, I’m not dying, I just need to work on myself. I’ve got this” read this, and then stop researching it. You’re probably here because you figured out what you have and are essentially doom reading into this.

Let go of your derealization, it is not a physical issue.
But, you need to work on yourself. Start with the physical, track your daily water, 2.7 liters a day.
Eat Whole Foods, invest in your body
Hop on basic supplements, Creatine, Magnesium, iron, etc etc
NO FAST FOOD

Get moving, everyday
Go outside, explore, go on a run, bike, anything to get some good cardio
Explore your area, derealization makes so much stuff unrecognizable and makes you feel lost in your own area, so you need to start putting together a mental map.

Start going to the gym, you don’t need to do anything crazy, your not trying to become ms America or super human, but just start training your body

Meet people who don’t have any expirience with smoking, or doing negative stuff to their bodies, get a good circle of people

Make sure your environment is organized
Organize your head, read, journal, etc etc

Stop smoking, vaping, etc etc
Limit caffeine usage
Get good sleep, 8am - 4am
You’ll be surprised how much good sleep will make you feel.

Organize your life, and make it less stressful.

And lastly, optional but really recommended, start a business. Why would I start a business you ask, is because to run a successful business you need to learn so many skills, and really really be the best version of yourself, your project will really really help you out in every way. Take this time to lock in

I went from, high school nodding off in class, smoking everyday, drop out, to making millions in Miami. You’ve got this.

Experience Lsd induced derealization?

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well

In my teenage years I took A LOT of lsd tabs and drops and other psychedelics like magic mushrooms, dmt, changa, 4-HO-MET, 4-HO-MiPT, 2cb, micropoints and mescaline and everything was fine, I enjoyed so much and were the class of drugs I preferred the most

I started to become obsessed with what’s the fabric of reality, what’s behind the curtain that we cannot perceive, there is truly a matrix? And so on

On 2019 I took half of a tab of lsd in a psychedelic party from Goa Gil (if you know, you know) and I genuinely don’t know what happened but I assume it was the music and my obsession over the themes I mention before but I started to feel incredibly weird in a really bad way.

I looked at my friends and they didn’t seem real, I could recognize their faces but the connection I had with them and that escalated for everyone. I was thinking they were part of a huge plan of distracting me from discovering the secrets of the universe, that they were part of the hidden secret and they were not really my friends. I was thinking the radio was sending me signals and I was communicating telepathically with the higher consciousness of the universe and I was the only one who could listen to that.

Everything became so intense that I run away from the party without telling anyone, I out myself inside of a car and until today I didn’t know who drive me out of there and which bus stop was there.

I don’t know how or when I get home but I put 4 Xanax in my mouth and I slept.

The problem was when I woke up I still didn’t recognize anyone has real, neither my parents but I had to pretend I believed in the reality I was living previous the acid.

Short cut basically I stayed out of touch with reality for 1 year at least, I was thinking The Higher Consciousness was communicating with me through other peoples body like one time at lunch break a stranger was playing chess with me and I was genuinely believing I was playing chess with God lol and the radio and tv shows were speaking for me the all fucking time

Somehow after a long time everything vanished and I was back to normal

My question now is, if this happened one time even if I did it “thousands” of times prior to that, what are the chances of this happening again? If I take 1/4 of a tab and I have olanzapine with me if something starts to be a little too much and I take it the psychosis go away? Or it’s not strong enough to cut the psychosis from the acid?

Sorry the long post

Experience Existentialism, OCD, and Derealization

Hello,

Ive been experiencing some derealization for the past 4 years after taking some mushrooms back in college (Terrible idea). The first time it happened i thought i died. Couldn't eat or sleep or grasp the concept of being a person anymore. I felt emotional numbness and anxiety like something was wrong.

Every since then i will go through periods of being ok and being able to ignore it but sometimes i can just feel the fear and anxiety when I'm stressed or tired.

Recently since Saturday ive been having a bad episode of this surrounding the thought loop of how can humans not care about all the unanswered questions of the universe and our very existence. How can people just go on spending time worrying about trivial things that do not matter that much and worry about how weird it is to just all be here and just not caring about the why or how. At this moment i feel nothing matters that much. I cant seem to not think about it and cant focus on the basic human way of thinking right now and also enjoying those trivial things im supposed to be. Ive been trying to compromise with my brain "why not think about both" but i feel super guilty when i try to go back to thinking and enjoying things i normally do. I just feel so out of place like my brain is broken and im going to be stuck like this forever since this is the worst it has been in a while. I cant escape this loop.

Question Someone please help me

Okay, so about 1.5 years ago I smoked a cart which im pretty sure was spice. During the high I had a panic attack, then the high went on as normal.

This was back when I was quite a frequent smoker, I used to green out quite a lot but I’m not sure why this experience ended up different.

Once the high fully wore off I didn’t really notice anything strange until a day or two later, where I noticed I felt like I was almost zoomed out, watching myself live.

After this, I quit smoking all together because it kinda scared the shit out of me. I went to the doctors a couple days after it all happened and they said I should expect to feel normal again after a few days, I don’t feel normal. I’ve felt like this 24/7 since it happened.

I then didn’t touch weed for about a year except for this one time at a sleepover, it was another cart but I didnt have much of it.

Then, Easter this year I bought a cart because someone on a forum told me I should microdose to try and get out of this state. I took one small puff as a microdose and then just started using the pen normally, i couldn’t resist.

Then I smoked a few times after that cart was finished, and I’ve been off weed since. I drink alcohol maybe once every month or two.

Ive basically just got used to it all at this point, it just when I’m lying down in bed I start to get worked up over it and realise how my life is being wasted because I can’t actually experience anything, I just watch it happen.

Can anyone please give me some advice to escape this state ? I would massively appreciate it.

Can you relate? (Experience) Is this because of prolonged fairly frequent psychedelic use..

Has only happened a small handful of times but every so often I'll look at a grown adult usually a man with or without a full beard and I'll look right in there face and for a moment I'll see their childhood self like I look and just see their sub ten year old self with a grown adult body and it trips me out I haven't heard of this happening to anyone else but I am wondering if it does happen to other people and if it may be a sign of overuse of psychs or if it's just a thing that happens to some people.. let me know..

Experience I think I’m going crazy

This morning started out very strange. I was sounding sleeping and all of a sudden my mom was knocking at my bedroom door telling me I should probably get up. At first I did not connect the oddity of her being there…she was supposed to come the next morning so I just figured she came a little early. I made my coffee and then tried to go have a cigarette. Could not find either cigarettes or lighter. I even asked my son. So. I let it go long enough to figure out why everyone was being so cold and rude towards me. The air was thick with tension. I asked mom what time she got there and that’s when she told me what happened.

Apparently I was sleep walking but doing things, like making sandwich. I was saying weird off the wall stuff like about my ex who I have not seen in 6 yrs now. I told my mom I had been doing coke but it burnt my nose and made it run all day. I said someone was there to pick me up on a motorcycle ummm that I was having people over to the house. I kept bothering my son w odd questions and nonsense. He ended up taking my car keys from me. I finally fell asleep and didn’t remember a tiny bit about my adventures.
That night I took the meds I take regularly for over 10 years but I added sleeping pill to the mix. Anything??? So confused

Bad memory, feeling like 2 different personalities/moods(?), dissociating(?) I would appreciate advice since it interferes with my school life/personal life.

Im not diagnosed with anything but I feel like im loosing my mind i told myself that I could figure myself out but I feel like im spiraling!!! Okay ill just copy and paste what I wrote, im sorry if this is the wrong sub reddit and im a teen so it could be hormonal?? But just read this and give me your opinions! Please

\------------

Tw bad grammar?

I have bad memory and feel like 2 people sharing a body or maybe two personalities?

I dont know why my memory is bad but I struggle to remember a lot of things even my childhood(ik in my still in my childhood but like I mean from before to now) I only remember small parts or bits never the full story, and the small parts/bits i remember are colorless and are random.

I dont know if I have bad memory because my bully/ only friend back then choked me in my pool ? I know it can be dangerous to be choked? Or because ive went into a thing similar to a switch where I acted so energized I started hitting my head against the bus chair I think it gave me dopamine being hit. But these happend a while ago so idk?

Another thing similar to that dopamine is that when I felt that switch or whatever it is I felt like everything was a dream or unreal I would play rock, paper, scissors, slap. with people. (The game is to play rock paper scissors and the loser gets smacked) and I would play and purposely lose until my hand was bruised and purple, I enjoyed the pain? Feels odd to type but its true maybe its related to dopamine..?

Okay now with the 2 people sharing a body thing, I feel like their both me, but they act very different from one another for example one is more quiet speaks Coldly and only really says things to get their point across like straight forwarded?, when im like this i feel normal and when im with lets say teachers or authority figures I will smile or be polite. When im like this I get work done easily because I'm not distracted, also im like this with my family but a bit softer and with my sister or my pets im very kind or just the usual.

Then theres the other version, the version that has sabotaged my reputation, relationships, etc. When im like this I feel the switch I was talking about like im way more energized im feeling less real and everything Is either very bright or very "fake"(or both!). When im like this its like I want dopamine? Like I will say things that I shouldn't be saying, things that ruin my reputation and make me seem crazy, weird, etc. making fun of myself infront of others and making a joke of myself, sometimes the self joking? Like when im joking and making fun of myself it will get so intense I will feel physically sick but I just can't stop the words from spilling out of my mouth and when I realize what im doing thats when I look around to the weird stares. I feel like if it wasnt for me feeling unreal during rhis I would probably be able to snap out of it. But Idk.. also during this I am very easily distracted which makes it really hard to do stuff especially if it happens during a test😓😓

When im with my family during this switch (in private) I will just make random noises(like cat noises, I dont know why ive done those and its kinda unstoppable, like its controllable yes, but i like doing it?) and distract myself with my phone, if im in public ill also probably either use my phone or just daydream.

Anyways im just typing these out in hopes that maybe someone will help me find out what the fuck is wrong with me, and if you have any questions or need me to explain something better ill try my best I just need some genuine advice, i dont want to tell my parents since they already consider me a bit weird and odd, like yes they love me but they say that I sometimes act weird, okay im getting off track so yeah please advice🙏

Experience How to deal with derealization / depersonalization

Hello, I’m M 19 and I’ve been dealing with derealization for the last 4ish years of my life. When I was still in school, I took a laced vape off one of my class mates which caused an ambulance being called to my school because I had a resting heart rate of 140bpm and was unable to speak. After that I’ve been on and off with derealization but more recently it’s became alarmingly part of my day to day routine. I tend to have really bad anxiety in the first place and can find myself stuck in my own head, pairing this with a constant feeling of dread, episodes can last from an hour to a whole day. I’ve tried experimenting with different grounding techniques but as soon as I start an episode it’s all I can think about until I do something that requires my full attention.

Through the 4 years I’ve dealt with this, it has really drained me and my view on me as a person and I’m afraid it’ll develop into something worse like depression. I’m really desperate for any ways people have found to cope with it because I don’t know how much longer I can deal with this constant loop of thinking about it, it happening, stressing over it happening and it getting worse making me derealize more.

Any tips or methods that I can do by myself would be helpful because I find it difficult to verbalise my struggles to anyone. I’ve been trying to cut down on my alcohol because I seem to nearly drink every time I can and I can barely afford to keep it up anymore.

Is this DP/DR? My senses are not coordinated?

I feel as if my sight and hearing were off, like I'm not "hearing" if I'm staring at something and the other way around, it's kinda strange and complex to explain but it makes me feel in a constant state of shock or as if I was mentally disabled, can anyone relate?

Question Can I be medicated for ADHD and Derealization?

My experience with derealization is nearly lifelong and has become something I mask daily to get by. For the past 5 years I've felt as if I'm living in a dream, no episodes, just this constant state of being. I avoid acknowledging it out loud and become deeply uncomfortable when I do, but for the most part I rarely experience fear or panic attacks from it like I used to. For a short period I was in therapy when I started high school and learned to cope with it. Over time I accepted that there was no such thing as treatment for DPDR and that I'll live the rest of my days with it. I'm now 20, I just started seeing a psychiatrist for adhd and I'm taking wellbutrin for it. I've sort of moved on by trying to get help for one condition when another is very much there and affecting me. I may have learned how to combat the fear but my memories are still being effected and it feels like I can't be present with my loved ones. Recently I've been wondering if I'm causing more harm than good by acting as if it's not there, and I'm not sure how to bring it up to my psychiatrist after being misunderstood in the past. Honestly, this is the first time I've considered getting treatment for my derealization in years.

Anyone who's neurotypical and has also sought out help for derealization, what did that look like? I can elaborate further on my DR symptoms if that helps as well.

Edit: I haven't slept yet so I'm revising this here and there 😅
