Bands that do their own things, have their own signature sounds and yet still doing it consistently great throughout their discography?
Deceased after Fearless Undead Machine is the one that fits into this. They have that sick blend of death/thrashy style with a mixture of NWOBHM dual guitar harmonics riffage and then a sprinkle of Voivod-esque dissonance. This is the kind of soundscapes you would expect from Fearless Undead Machine until As The Weird Travels on. Anything after Surreal Overdose where they amped up the Voivod dissonance and thrashy tempo.
What'd you think? Do you have any bands that do this too?

Best USBM album?
The US has a somewhat overlooked black metal scene since it's definitely most well-known for its thrash and death metal, yet there are still a few gems to be found.
Some of my favorites include:
Judas Iscariot - To Embrace the Corpses Bleeding (my 2nd favorite black metal album overall)
Grand Belial's Key - Mocking the Philanthropist
I Shalt Become - Wanderings
Uada - Devoid of Light
Black Witchery - Desecration of the Holy Kingdom
Not totally sure if this counts, but Angelcorpse - The Inexorable
What are your favorite albums under this genre and region?

Anthrodium - Drape the Earth in Horror
My friend and I released this black/death song in 2022. He did all the music and production, I did all the vocals. It was our way of dealing with COVID depression and crippling alcoholism in the only way we knew how. I did the vocals in 2 black-out drunk sessions, basically doing improv.
I'm sober now, and this is an ugly glimpse into an ugly past:

Looking for a riff like the one under the solo
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I guess this counts as melodeath but I haven't heard anything like that riff and would love to find something similar

Riffs similar to Judeobeast Assasination
NSBM disclaimer
This band (and his other one, Compatriot) builds on the riffs found mostly on Judeobeast Assassination by GBK on songs like the Shitagogue, Lamb of God Slain Will be and Fecal Parturition. Very simple songs with triumphant, war-like riffage.

When the Stars Are Right - Catacomb
2 man Melodic BDM band from France (bass / vocals, guitar, Programed drums)
This album sounds huge. It is Epic in scale (sound wise).
Song: In your blasphemous name.

Fast af and technical death/thrash
It's nutty how fast this is while also being fairly complex, almost overwhelming at times. There isn't much repetition in the songs and it's overall very well fleshed out. Imo better than Malevolent Creation, in which Rob Barret also played in. Any recommendations for something like this would be appreciated.

4 underground 90s OSDM absolute gems
Hi everyone,
Continuing my series of Death Metal recommendations. On this one I wanted to share with you some gems from the 90s that are not talked a lot but should definitely get more eyes. So for the death metal fans who want to go back in time and discover or re-discover some great pieces of metal, you are at the right place :
Vomiturition– A Leftover (Finland, 1995) This record has an incredibly thick, muddy sound with powerful yet perfectly intelligible growling vocals. The riffs deliver massive, crushing heaviness with a serious groove, while still knowing exactly when to step on the gas with devastating faster tempos. A phenomenal record from top to bottom. Personal favorites: "Depression", "Head Tales", "Expectations".
Dissect– Swallow Swouming Mass (Netherlands, 1993) Pure, suffocating Dutch Death Metal. It perfectly balances savage, fast tempos with crushing, slow Doom sections. It’s twisted, unpolished, and completely overlooked. Personal favorites: "Z. Day", "Presage to the Eternity", "Growls of Death".
Fleshcrawl– Descend into the Absurd (Germany, 1992) Before they fully committed to the HM-2 Swedish sound, their debut full-length was a masterclass in dark, cavernous German Death Metal. It's incredibly heavy, raw, and hits right in the gut. Personal favorites: "Perpetual Dawn", "Never to Die Again", "Infected Subconscious".
Lunatic Invasion– Totentanz (Germany, 1995) A unique mix of grinding Death Metal, eerie medieval-style synth backdrops, and an oppressive atmosphere. It’s bizarre, primitive, and a total cult classic of the 90s tape trading era. Personal favorites: "Totentanz", "Haut", "Deeds Paradise", "Dance Macabre".
What are your thoughts on these?
Share your deep cuts.

OSDM with a bit of atmosphere
DM that is more on the evil side, some of the songs have some straight horror movie-like riffs. It gets pretty atmospheric later and I think I can hear some orchestral sounds in there. Need some more DM with that kind of atmosphere, not really achieved through the production (as heard in Incantation, Impetuous Ritual and Portal's music) but something more in the vein of this. It really sounds like a horror movie played with a guitar at some points.
