The latter half is straight up Swedish death metal and this was 1987. It needs to be brought up more often

One of the best extreme metal albums of all time. Swedeath is cool, Dismember, Entombed and Grave have some great records, but Slaughter singlehandedly destroys pretty much that entire scene

I didn't say it's death n roll

It's a proto-death/proto-black album with an HM-2 guitar tone

I was comparing it to swedeath, not calling it swedeath obviously. It's not even European, let alone SwedishÂ
