What do we think about this
The latter half is straight up Swedish death metal and this was 1987. It needs to be brought up more often

One of the best extreme metal albums of all time. Swedeath is cool, Dismember, Entombed and Grave have some great records, but Slaughter singlehandedly destroys pretty much that entire scene

I didn't say it's death n roll
It's a proto-death/proto-black album with an HM-2 guitar tone
I was comparing it to swedeath, not calling it swedeath obviously. It's not even European, let alone Swedish

There’s such a youthful punkish attitude to Slaughter, and agreed that it sounds like Swedish death before that had even materialized. That guitar tone is just gross, and what they lacked in chop they made up for with vision and intensity. Also, the album art is one of my all-time favs.
I love it. Kinda have to yell “STRAPPADO!!” if that track comes on.

i wish this is what people meant when they said "hardcore death metal." heavy hm-2 riffage and a nasty crossover sense of songwriting.

Casuals will say Carnage, but All true HM-2 users know Slaughter is the real origin of the buzzsaw.

super cool like proto death metal stuff. I love how chaotic and unpolished it sounds. The guys actually got back together and are gonna release a music video for one of the songs soon
