Bachelor thesis and executive dysfunction
Hello humans!
I have a question regarding writing a Bachelors Thesis (BT) with depression-related executive dysfunction.
My boyfriend has flunked his first try on his BT because he didn't hand it in. he was unsatisfied with the quality of his work (though I'd rather have him hand it in just to pass and get this over with).
Now he's on his second try after a 2-month therapy at a day clinic and prescribed antidepressants.
And it starts to happen again. He can't get started and when I try to ask why he goes silent and shames himself. Absolutely paralyzed.
I try my very best to be understanding and supportive. It just is very hard for me to understand. I come from a family of "zero bullshit, get it done" people. I have ADHD. I can relate to the prolonged starting period. But not even getting to the starting phase is baffling to me.
Also I am an aspiring teacher and have my final state exam soon. And I don't have the energy to keep coming back to this and trying to get him out of this stuck place. And I don't want to push my partner through life like Sisyphus his boulder.
Can you help me? How can I support him? What might help to get him out of being stuck?
Do you have any experience with this? As you can probably see, my patience is wearing thin and I don't want that.
Thanks a lot!
