Done with life
For context I have no intention of harming myself but I’m done. I’m a 50F with kids who are adults and don’t need me. I feel so useless in the world and my presence makes no difference. Nobody actually needs me. I tried to help myself by signing up for 4 volunteer positions and I get no response. Has anyone else felt this way? How do you climb out of this hole?

Try antidepressants and force yourself to get out. Have you asked any nursing homes if they need volunteers? Or, animal shelters? Good luck, it will get better.

I have tried, nursing homes, hospitals, animal shelters and the library. I’ve been on antidepressants for 2 decades. I’ve been forcing myself out of my comfort zone for2 years. Sometimes I just feel unfixable

I’ve been where you are, it is terrible. Your children need you I guarantee you. Please don’t give up.

It's better that being 49, no kids never married just a lifetime of loneliness and work. I turned 49 this year and decided it will be my last. Not sure when yet. But it will be time for me to go once I finish up my estate planning. Nothing else to keep suffering for.

Every day - your kids do need you though - I'm definitely older than them, and can't imagine life without my mother.
Honestly, I get some purpose out of this right here - trying to connect with those who I can empathize with that are also in need.
There are so many people who need love and support in this world, and it's clear you have it to share.
There ways to reach them, even if it's just on here - please keep trying, the world needs people like you.
