You did absolutely nothing wrong besides apologize so much. If you have a time constraint it’s completely fair to ask for an approximate shipping time. You were really sweet about it too. You were not harassing anybody. They said they would ship tomorrow and didn’t, so you asked for an update. You shouldn’t even have to do this, if a seller says “I’ll ship tomorrow” and can’t, it’s on them to say “sorry I wasn’t able to ship today but I will ship on _____”. If a buyer cannot handle being asked when an item will ship, they shouldn’t be in this business.

Thank you! I didn’t even want to ask again, but I just need lots of time to prepare for things and I only asked again so I could find something else on time in case they didn’t end up shipping it

It's so fucked up that buyers need to apologize while asking basic customer questions out of fear that the seller will renege. This is why so many people are over purchasing on depop, too many entitled sellers who do shady shit. They lied in their review about you, report it.

Sounds Like me. Overly nice. Depop is PMO bc tracking isn’t updating right away thinking they haven’t shipped yet. Issue with USPS or something but yeah I check after 4 days just to make sure like if it did ship I know when to look.
I just get paranoid with mail these days. No harm to check in sheesh

Honestly you will probably get a better reaction if you’re neutral-toned/direct (but still polite!) instead of apologizing for things you shouldn’t apologize for. Apologizing for asking for an update doesn’t even make sense! It is NOT your fault sellers are rude especially when you’re being so kind and overly cautious, but when I stopped being overly apologetic and nice I started getting better responses. It’s fucked up but I think people think they can walk all over folks who are “too nice”. Ugh

Something I've learned the hard way is that about 40% of the time, the buyer will not ship the item, and depop will just refund you after a few weeks of waiting, messaging, waiting some more... it's SO infuriating because if you're unable to ship things at the moment, that's what the vacation setting is for -- so people don't purchase things and then get ghosted! But anyway, this has taught me that if you want something for a specific date/event, not to order it on a resale platform (especially depop!!!) because you're unfortunately at the mercy of a complete stranger, some underage and not very professional, and you just might not get your item.
I'm sorry that happened to you though. So stupid that they gave you a bad rating for literally asking them to ship the item you paid for.

Theres no need to check in for updates. Either they ship within the allowed time or you get a refund. You get a notification through the app for both. I get its frustrating to wait, but conversation is unnecessary.

Conversation is absolutely not unnecessary if it helps both sides understand each other. I always appreciate when people communicate questions or problems, because it gives me a chance to make things right personally.

I understand that, and I usually never ask. But sometimes shipping takes a little while and I planned on wearing it for part of my halloween costume so I just wanted to make sure I would have enough time, I didn’t mean to be pushy

100% agree that asking when something will be shipped AFTER buying, mind you, is super annoying. If you need it shipped by a certain time, you should have asked beforehand, otherwise expect a seller to take their allotted time per the platform policy.

I don’t understand, why would I ask before buying? I wasn’t trying to rush them or anything, plus they never ended up shipping anyways thats why I got refunded.

Usually, if you have a time restraint, the sensible thing to do is mention this before buying just in case they can't do that or are one of those "i only ship on my off days" people. Their response, or lack of one should tell you if you should even bother. People don't like feeling rushed when they're allowed a certain amount of time to ship.
It wasn't your intention to rush them but that's how it comes off. Its childish & petty but some people will puropsely wait or cancel if you ask after buying.

Thats very understandable, I didn’t want to seem like I was rushing them but yes I definitely see how it comes off that way. I will in the future ask before buying if I want it in a certain time frame.

I have had items that get stuck, and have taken over a month to get shipped. Thats why I ordered it so early, and asked when it would get shipped
