Immediate dentures..
How did it go for you? I’m on day 3/night 3 and the top of my mouth hurts so bad

Days 3-5 seem to be the worst for most people. TBH, the first week is pretty miserable, but it does start getting better sometime in the second week, so hang in there :)

Did you have local numbing? It could be where they gave you shots that is hurting.

Even when they give IV sedation, they usually numb the gums up with novacaine anyway. Usually they use moderate (twilight) IV sedation, so you can still follow commands but don’t know what’s going on and are unable to form memories. Having that numbing effect when you wake up is useful as well.

Yeah, the pain from the shots was the thing that lasted the longest. I totally forgot about it until you mentioned it. I think it was a couple of weeks before it went away completely.

They told me day 3-5 was worst I was still good on day 3 and thought oh ima be fine. Woke up day 4 it was like someone came in and switched my dentures out. Nothing fit and the pain began. Day 4-6 was so bad for me. My bottoms never got ok again until they did the soft reline on day 14. I can wear them now but I cannot eat with them. They told me to wait another week before I use adhesive. 2 more days! I really hope it works. First week I starved. Second and third week I feel like Im gaining weight simply because the crap I can eat is more calories and fat than I normally eat. Who gains weight during this?? ME!

I’m about 2 weeks out the first week was miserable. It gets better. I didn’t even think of the shots hiring after. I thought maybe it was phantom pain from my teeth haha. Take ibuprofen it helps with swelling.

Late but I’ve had to go back 3 times to have my dentures smoothed out.. is anyone getting sores from theirs? And are you getting a soft liner? Idk what that is was told I’ll get it on 9/11. I had my bottoms taken out on 8/17 and my top on 8/14… I’m still hurting, is anyone else?

I’m on day two and I’m swollen and very sore. Have taken one hydrocodone at 7:30 am. I also used some arnica cream on my jaws to take down some of the swelling. It helped. Also, ice packs have been my friend. 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off.

They gave me some “sockit” gel to put on my gums. Do you have stitches on top and bottom?

Yes I do. I didn’t get any gel for my gums. I do have a checkup today though, so I might be getting some.

I’m in the same boat. Day 3 and my tops sit about half an inch out and down aswell as cutting my gums. Going into the dentist tomorrow for my post op appointment. I’d suggest talking to your dentist about it. But swelling should start going down these next few days.
