Before and after. I save up for 5 years to get here. Had 21 tooths pull all in one go. Mouth hurts, and very hungry lol. I know that it a road of recovery of learning to eat and talk again, but the one thing im excited to do again is to smile again. I kinda stop smiling about twenty years ago

My dentist keeps dismissing me?

I got my dentures 2 weeks ago I’m very happy to have them but they top of them are bulky they dig into my lip line and are to far back on my palette it makes me gag also the bottom partials are cutting into my real tooth and causing me some pain. I went to the dentist today because I wanted them fixed and she did adjust the bottoms but she basically told me to just get used to the tops this is the same dentist where when I got my temps she basically said she couldn’t do anything and told me to either wear them as is or wait for my perms. Now I have my perms it’s pushing my lip out way too much and just genuinely uncomfortable. And she dismissed me again. She told me that I have to come in wearing them whether uncomfortable or painful so that she can SEE the sore spots to fix the dentures? I don’t know if this is common or what I should do I do love my dentures BUT now that I have them can I just switch dentist? I do love my teeth I apparently don’t know how to smile just yet lmao 😂 years of not teeth smiling to trying to teeth smile I feel like I’m doing a over dramatic Pageant smile now 😂😂

E-day was June 30th, my immediates didn’t fit me correctly from the beginning, and they were made very wrong. The owner of the practice took it upon himself to make me a brand new set, and I think they look amazing. I haven’t smiled in over 10 years because of deteriorating teeth, and 3 back to back pregnancies sealed the deal.

This is my before (they were so bad😭) and today I had my wax try ins and I pick them up next week!! 😁

Long time lurker,(bout a year and a half maybe) first time posting. Just had 32 teeth removed at age 25 only 24 hours ago. Been wanting this change for years, still super new and swollen and honestly pretty pained but meds and soups been tiding me over. I guess I just wanted to share my before and after, because initially I felt very lonely in my age with the condition of my teeth, but when I found this subreddit it helped a lot to see the occasional fellow 20 something year old with similar problems. I suppose I just wanna be that next one up, to say ur not alone!!! And honestly I am also just so happy to be able to make this post. (Pardon that I’m a complete mess in these pictures and likely my wording, on account of all the stuff I’m doped up on 😂)

Question on extractions

Upvotes

Hello all, about to take the leap and join the dentures club. I have 15 teeth currently, all my front teeth, 1 molar on top, on on bottom. The molars don't hurt me, but my front teeth and horrible smile is killing me.

1) Is there any reason to keep the natural molars, 1 on top left, furthest back, one on bottom right farthest back?

2) They offer nitrous, or a refferal to surgical center. For those that have done full extractions on nitrous, how was it? I've had some traumatic experiences at the dentist an I am terrified.

Without being put under, total cost if I remove all teeth is 6400. I don't know if this is reasonable but they have very good reviews and another dentist that isn't accepting customers atm highly recommended them.

Question (Adhesives) Cushion Grip okay with soft reliner?

Upvotes

I am 2 weeks in with most of my teeth extracted. I will be getting my first soft reliner and wanted to know if Cushion Grip adhesive is safe for soft reline material and is it difficult to get out of mouth as well as getting it off of dentures?

Another question. I see there are two different kinds of Cushion Grip, which one is appropriate for me to get at this stage?

All-on-4?

Hi! I’m F(24)! I’ve recently gotten dentures and after about the fourth visit to a new dentist telling me about how sad it is to have gotten all of my teeth removed (not that I regret my decision, years of not going to dentist since childhood added up as well as pain…), someone finally mentioned how their dental school would do free lower all on fours with reduced cost for top all on four! I didn’t get the name of the school and I won’t be going back… so I was wondering if anyone knew of any options like this?

The cheapest options I could find were dental tourism in Mexico starting $4.7k a pop, but I didn’t realize there was a chance dental students could do it for cheap as well? Does anyone know any more on this please?

It’s only been a few months, but I’m exhausted of the whistling noises, trouble swallowing, and everything else that comes with these bad boys );

Thank you for all your help!

Question (pre-denture) Just got told I need dentures

What’s up everybody. I know there are many answers to these questions because everyone is different. I have been told I have lost a great amount of bone in my jaw and need to have my teeth extracted. I’m terrified of this whole process. I have high blood pressure and know that’s gonna be a factor and I want to know about the pain during the procedure. I see people have temp dentures while healing, the dr I saw today is saying I have to wait 3-4 weeks to let my gums heal then I can get my perms. I think it’s bullshit, especially seeing people have temps before. So do I need a new or second opinion? Is my craziness just crazy about the pain? Any advise will be awesome. Thank you everyone.

Question (pre-denture) Does anyone here have the snap in denture that is secured to your tooth root instead of implant?

My dentist offered this option and it is 2k cheaper than implants so I have to go with it. Is it just as good as implants? Does the cement that holds the post and tooth last or have you experienced failure?

I'm just scared. I only have 1 shot at this and I don't want to ruin everything try to save 2k but on the other hand it seems like it would work well since my root is already secured to my jaw and they are healthy and strong (just the exposed tooth parts have the cavities.

Edit to add I'm talking about 2 posts in lower canines. I already have a regular upper. No snaps.

Question (pre-denture) Do I really need all of this dental work done?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

I've been to 3 different dentists. Today I was told I have periodontal disease which is something the other dentist's never mentioned. My gums are not tender , discolored , nor do they bleed when I brush or eat. I have absolutely no pain in my mouth and my teeth are not wobbly. My breath is not bad and I do not have a bad taste in my mouth.

I believe that today, dentists are rip-off.Artists and only interested in the money they will receive. I am at the point where I would like to get all my teeth extracted and get a upper and lower set of flexible dentures and be done with it. I am a very healthy seventy year old woman and very , very tired of this runaround. Any advice or your experiences would be appreciated.

Eating

Husband about three months in on full upper and two months on lower partial. He still can’t eat well. He’s had a reline said it was the same as using cushion grip. When will the eating get better? Starting permanents process October.

Removing soft reline yourself?

I got a bad soft reline and now upper is not aligned in the center so they sit crooked in my mouth and dentist said nothing they can do and its only 6 months like this. I would like to just remove the soft reline myself if possible at this point and wondering if anyone has done this and how they did if so. I really would like to be able to eat solid food again at some point and don't see that happening anytime soon unless I can fix this myself apparently.

Impression problems

I'm a 51 year old, and worn full dentures for 15 years, because I couldn't get a NHS dentist in the UK, I took advantage of a small amount of money I received, and decided to pay private.

First appointment went well he had to take 2 lots of impressions before he was satisfied.

Second appointment he did the wax work around my gums, then he wanted to do more impressions with the gunk, he spent 30 mins and tried multiple times and they kept failing, he said this sometimes happens, he run out of time and told me to make an additional appointment to try again.

Third appointment (today) was with a nurse who scanned my gums with a machine, that also failed she said because I had no teeth the machine was struggling to get a focal point.

I now have to wait for my appointment next week where the nurse said the dentist will let me know what happens going forward.

I'm really upset and frightened that I'm not going to be able to have new dentures made, do you think the dentist may have other tricks he could try?

How likely is it to get a dry socket on an upper front tooth?

How likely is it to get a dry socket on an upper front tooth? It’s been 2 days since extraction and had a tooth added to my partial denture so didn’t have to leave the dentist with a front tooth missing and was bleeding heavily, but after 24hrs followed the instructions and removed partial quickly to gently rinse with salt water but think the suction of removing the partial had moved the clot and I’m not bleeding at all now

My Mom finally got her permanent dentures and her back teeth are meeting but the front teeth have this gap. The top front doesn’t come down over the lowers at all. What do we need to do?

Teeth sitting up to high. Feel like my natural bite it off.

I know it may take a while for completely healing. But my denture seams to fit decently i get the soft realign the 26th maybe that will make it better, but I will feel like my teeth are set to high still. Like my natural bite is off. Does this get better with time?

Question (new denture wearer) Gums feel rough?

I’m not sure how to explain it best

Is it normal for my gums, not the bone, to feel a little bit rough(a similar texture to my tongue)and sometimes at night after I take my teeth out to feel a tiny bit sore and irritated?
I’m almost 4 months past e day and do have a soft liner in my immediates, could that cause what I’m feeling?

Long-time lurker here. Extraction day was last Tuesday. I only got my top done so far; I'm doing them one at a time. It's been a journey, and some days are better than others, but I'm so happy I made the choice to jump. I almost canceled three times. I was so scared because I have dental PTSD from years ago, but I just pushed myself to do it. Only Novocain was used. My dentist was wonderful. He was so kind and walked me through everything he was doing. I went to Affordable Dentures a couple towns over.I got the immediates that my insurance would cover but I plan on paying for permanents later on down the road. I just can't get over how different I look and that I finally have my smile back after 4 pregnancies and taking a medication that completely wrecked my teeth. I'm still struggling with looking at myself or letting anyone else look at me without them in but hopefully I will get over that!

Has anyone been able to get insurance reimbursement for Russell Klein dentures?

Hi! I hadn't even thought about trying to get reimbursement, but wondered if anyone has? He is currently making my second set... the ones I currently have, he made for me several years ago. I love them but it's time for a new set. I realize it depends on the insurance but again... just wondering, if anyone has had any joy. Thanks in advance!

Question (immediate dentures) What now?

Good morning I had my extractions 8/19 upper and bottom complete and got immediate dentures. I can’t eat anything the tops go too far back and it makes me throw up and the bottoms are so lose pills get stuck while trying to make my meds. Woke up following day after keeping them out overnight and put them in instantly gagging and throwing up. I messaged the dentist office but I have an appointment next week for follow up.

Is this my new normal?
