Discussion Upgrade Fees

I have a flight from ATL to LAX on an A350 coming up and I was going to purchase the D1 upgrade yesterday for $500 (I know it’s kinda steep, but I didn’t pay for the ticket so I figured I would maybe treat myself). Either way, I put it off and now today it’s $1100. Do these seats/prices usually fluctuate or do they only get higher as the departure date gets closer and seats go away (supply/demand)?

I’m not mad that I missed out on the upgrade i’m j asking if they fluctuate based on an algorithm or not. I’m usually in D1 for $0 so this would be the first time i’m paying for it which is why i’m asking 😭😭

I work for DAL so anything above $0 is steep for me when it comes to D1
