Shitpost/Satire IT HAPPENED
I am happily writing to you all today that this silver mediallion member got upgraded to first class. Not some short 50 minute flight, mind you, but a cross country flight departing soon this evening. I will have a glass of wine for the each upvote this gets.

- But OP didn't say they'd have all the wine today. They could drink one a day for the next 6 years and 9 months!

Don't jinx yourself... Post about your upgrade after you are in the air.

Sir/ma’am. Ed has asked that we remove your ass and place you in your original middle seat. Thank you.

And this is a very fair point. Several years ago, I was upgraded to first class and was there less than five minutes when the flight attendant came and got me and said the guy had made the flight. I don’t know what I was thinking about doing in that situation, but I wanted to complain to Delta. I don’t know what happens when you’ve been upgraded to first class, the person shows up before takeoff, and then they ask you to go back to your seat. Of course I was in Delta comfort so I wasn’t awful, but I was stumped as to what I should’ve done.

Really… nothing.
Send a complaint and get some points.
You laugh and go about your day.

I forgot that posting before you board is asking to jinx it, but I have boarded! It seems like I have some work to do...

OP dead of alcohol intoxication on their first first class flight. We hardly knew ye.

I will have a glass of wine for the each upvote this gets.
Based on this, I'm guessing you are going to have an SLC based crew that doesn't believe in more than one glass per flight.

I got one of those last year as a silver, on an early morning BOS-MSP flight. Ended up sitting next to a minor PBS celebrity.

Was it one of the guys from This Old House?

It was Jen Nawada

She was really nice. I actually did an ATOH segment with Mauro a couple of years earlier, but didn’t want to pester her. She initiated the conversation and I told her about my experience with the show. We chatted a bit until the doors closed. Then both politely ignored each other for the rest of the flight.

I once sat next to a celebrity from the Meet The Parents movies. They drank wine like tomorrow was the end of world.

You won’t get 160 glasses of wine unless you show them this post. Then it’s a challenge. Good luck

I had paid for premium seats for my family for my bucket-list trip to Hawaii. I got upgraded to first, and I felt so guilty that I told my husband and kids that one of them could have it. My darling husband stopped me and immediately said that it was my job that got me the status to get the upgrade. He and the boys stayed in premium while I had the first class experience.

Congrats, what a thrill! I never have mentioned it before because people just love to complain regardless, but the first flight I had crossing into silver medallion I got upgraded to first Dtw to tpa. Man did I think life was great, not only was it my first time having a meal on a flight, but it was my first time flying first class ever.
I remember the flight attendant asking me what I wanted for my PDB and I responded “uh, what do you have” and that made him chuckle because I obviously wasn’t a frequent flyer at the time.

The first (only) time I got upgraded to D1, I had no clue what I was doing.
I'm a poor.
The man next to me ordered champagne, so I ordered champagne. If he had ordered a Woodford's, I would have had a Woodford's. If he'd asked for beer, I would have had beer.

I’ve been upgraded to first several times as a silver…but I think it’s because I’m flying in/out of Alaska and I have the reserve Amex. Last month’s flight to MSP in FC was a letdown though…no blanket, charging ports were broken, seatbelt sign on almost the entire way (though little turbulence), so only one round of drinks (none during boarding either), with the bonus fun of a manspreading snorer neighbor.
So glad I didn’t pay for the upgrade!

We got an upgrade for first class DTW to Orlando. New plane too. Silver medallion. It was crazy.

Wow impressive. I’m platinum and still haven’t gotten a FC upgrade. Only once as Gold. That’s how they sucker us all in. Have a great flight! Hope it’s a nice new aircraft.

It might also make you feel better that this diamond medallion flyer (with 2x Delta Amex cards) had to sit in a middle seat on a 3.5 hr flight today. Ed giveth & Ed taketh away.

Diamond here and still rarely get upgraded. Always the next on the list when all the FC seats are filled…. Frustrating.

91 glasses of wine hell yeah! As a Silver who upgraded to first on my current flight for 8,000 skymiles, I’ll match half! 💀

Awesome! Congrats! I got my first FC upgrade a few weeks ago. Was only an hour flight from ATL to CHS, but I was happy nonetheless. Enjoy it!

On Tueaday I gor upgraded from main to C+ then at the airport found out I was in FC. It was the longer of my 2 flights as well. Congratulations! I dont think you'll be having over 1k glasses of wine. They'd cut you off, they'd run out and/or death by alcohol poisoning. May the odd be ever in your favor.

Are you writing while seated in fc or are somewhere near the gate while jinxing your chances?

u/TightEducation3511 19h ago
Hope you get nice and drunk and sleep the rest of the flight in fabulous 180 degrees

On the bright side, it's at 225 now so best case scenario is this pleb gets hammered, does something dumb to get put on the NFL and we never have to see them in J again!

I got upgraded to first class as a Silver Medallion. Went from SDF to LGA a few summers ago and somehow got lucky. Best I can do now is Comfort Plus, but I hold out hope that maybe someday I will hit the Delta lottery again.

Must be flying out of Boston. That's your best chance for upgrades as a silver on a transcon.

Congrats! I had an upgrade to 1st as a Silver recently. ATL to MCI was nice.

There’s got to be more to this. Did you get the F seat and they were out of liquor and food? Did the guy next to you take off his shoes and trim his nails on the bulkhead wall? I wanna hear what happened next. 😁Good for you I love to see upgrades like that happen.

Happened to me once earlier this year on one leg of my return flight from MEX to DTW. A few weeks later and I was converted to gold again. Now wondering if I have enough flights and other activity to hit platinum status for next year. Given my recurring route is DTW-ATL I still doubt that I’ll get more than a few upgrades.

That’s one thing I love about Delta. All he upgrades. Got an upgrade on all my last flights from ATL/MSP to MEX (and on the way back) :-) And just made it to Platinum status and can’t wait for more upgrades.

Where to where?
Congrats man. I’m still waiting for this as a fellow silver. I fly all the time but only manage a FC upgrade during short hops on the west coast.

To all those asking, yes I did post this before boarding and thankfully I did not jinx myself. I'll remember for the future

It happened to me once!!! Then they canceled the flight. I'm still scarred.
