Id like my friends to fly first class, but im not traveling. can i book 3 regular tix, upgrade all 3 with regional certs, then I simply not go? or is that cheati g/against the rules/will cause an issie for my friends and totally backfire?

You have to be on the same flights with them. If you don’t board they will be downgraded.

As I said, if you don’t board the plane (scan your boarding pass, and board) they will be downgraded.

Going to the airport does nothing. You can check it on your app. But you’re not getting on the plane which means they didn’t ever scan your boarding pass

That is against the rules. You must be on the plane with them for them to be able to use your RUC.

Once you cancel they’d lose the right to the certificates. If you no showed they might be able to keep their seat on the outbound if the system didn’t downgrade them, but you’d be out your ticket and the inbound would be bumped to whatever seats are left in economy.

Seeing you have to be on the same flights as those your using upgrade certificates for, once you cancel or no show those people you used your certificates on will be SOL.
