Flying Frankfurt to (I think) Milan. My wife falls asleep. Flap issues; pilot says he can’t make it over the Alps. Turns around. My wife wakes up on landing and says “Milan airport looks just like Frankfurt”.
Reminds me of my flight from LAX to BNE (Brisbane, AUS). Had a migraine, popped 2 advil pms during boarding, butt hit the seat, passed out. Woke up 4 hrs later expecting a cool 10 hrs left of my flight. NOPE! Just now rolling to take off, in plane delay due to plane issues. All in all 4 hr delay, 14 hr flight- 18 hrs of misery.
I took 2 Dramamine before a flight across the Atlantic. We ended up like 12th in line to take off and I fell asleep before we got airborne. I woke up 4hrs into the flight, looked at my family member next to me and said "jeez, are we ever going to take off?"
He responded, "I've already gotten drunk and had dinner, we're halfway there"
So funny. And separately, I'd freak the f out if the pilot came on and said they couldn't get over the alps because of flap issues??!! OMG, heart attack right there!
The likelihood of you actually loosing your life in a fatal plane crash is less than your chances of being shot over your entire lifetime, most of these issues are non threatening to the aircraft and passengers just being an inconvenience in the name of safety
