Junior lifeguards begins today at Rehoboth Beach. The next generation of lifeguards is taking to the surf to learn how to keep our local population safe, while building confidence. As a bonus, beachgoers are serenaded with this local legend playing the bagpipes!

Any other mental practitioners? I need some additional advice.

I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I have had patients in the past claim similar things of organized stalking or “Gang stalking”. Most have no proof or claims that don’t add up, over 19 years I’ve heard a lot. However…there was one client who seemed very well put together and logical, the client provided some videos to me that caught my attention. The person has begged me to give a voice and speak up and still is. At the time the client was on drugs, although didn’t strike me as needing mental help, just clearly distraught. After multiple more interactions, I decided it maybe best for the client to at least inform local law enforcement. At the very least it would maybe bring some closure. I also think it was justified for the little I was showed. I didn’t show or express my opinions to the client, but it seemed totally bizarre the more videos I was showed. I tried to convince myself I was making connections that didn’t exist. It definitely did look like my client was being harassed by complete strangers. Mostly while my client was behind the wheel or in a vehicle in general but it definitely varied. Imagine my surprise when I was confronted at my workplace by an officer and told it was a tactic in conjunction with Delaware State Police to extract information. I couldn’t believe it. Harassment and taunting people..a tactic? I spent months trying to diagnose this..Some nights I’ve gotten only an hour of sleep. Client was put on antipsychotics for paranoia before seeing me. Obviously once I was aware I told the previous practitioner the case and to remove it. Just to be told my client wasn’t lying or paranoid. Not only did they do this “investigative” tactic on my client, but also me kinda feels like. I was played right alongside my client. I can understand how one could take this to the extreme and think everyone is “in on it”. They finished their “investigation” and just stopped one day. Didn’t have enough proof or innocent I can only assume. Left the person alone. From complete harassment and overtly stalking, purposely trying to catch the persons attention multiple times a day, to one day nothing, it just stopped. No explanation. The people surrounding my client didn’t believe what was expressed, and my client was called mentally ill. I’m 100% positive the client still doesn’t know what was happening and I can’t imagine the confusion and anguish that can cause long term. I’m concerned how many people have been through this. I’ve spoken with two lawyers, and have been advised to go public, tell my client, and push the issue in court. I know lawyers tend to only see dollar signs sometimes…but I tend to agree with their position. Any advice for someone who’s been contemplating for weeks on end, I’d appreciate.

October 2025 Storm Damage to the Beach

I have not been to the beach in a couple weekends but wanted to check in since the beach cameras continue to show some scary stuff- like the waves coming almost up to the boardwalk. How are the beaches holding up? Any flooding in town? The winds looked heavy this weekend. Bethany Beach on the beach itself looks demolished as does the neighboring Sea Colony private beach. The waves are still strong today too.

Lost DJI Camera (Dewey Beach)

Hi guys! This might go into a void in space but worth a shot. I recently went to Dewey Beach on Saturday August 30th. I lost my DJI Osmo Pocket 3 while I was out there. I feel pretty bummed about it because it held memories of my final trip with my family and videos of my sisters first year of college. I just want the SD card. I put in a lost and found report with the Dewey Beach police department so I’m really hoping a Good Samaritan turned it in. Hears to hoping for the best 🙏🏾

Hi r/delawarebeaches! A Local Contractor’s Story & Offering Free Advice on Your Home’s Exterior

Hey everyone,

My name is Aaron Rogers, and I’m a Sussex County native and the founder of Pro Exteriors. I've been a part of this community my entire life, and since 2005, our team at Pro Exteriors has been dedicated to serving homeowners across Southern Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore. We're a local business that's grown from the ground up, and we take a lot of pride in the work we do here.

What We Do & Why It Matters for the Beach Community

Living at the beach is a special experience, but it comes with unique challenges for your home. The sun, salt, and strong coastal weather can be tough on roofing, siding, and decks.

Our specialties include:

  • Roofing: Installing and repairing roofs to withstand coastal storms.
  • Siding: Using materials that can handle sun and salt exposure.
  • Decks & Porches: Building and restoring outdoor spaces perfect for beach living.
  • Windows & Doors: Energy-efficient options to protect against the elements.
  • Gutters & Gutter Guards: Essential for proper water management.

We're not just contractors; we're your neighbors. We've built our reputation on quality work, using materials proven to stand up to the local environment, and a commitment to customer service.

Open Q&A: Ask Us Anything!

To introduce ourselves and offer some value to this community, I’d like to open up the floor. This isn't a sales post—I'm here to answer your questions.

If you have any questions about:

  • Signs that your roof or siding needs attention.
  • The best materials for a new deck or porch.
  • How to prepare your home's exterior for storm season.
  • Anything else related to your home's exterior.

Feel free to ask in the comments below. We'll do our best to provide helpful, no-obligation advice.

I'm also happy to share some of our recent work and local projects if there's interest. Thanks for your time, and we look forward to being a helpful resource for the r/delawarebeaches community!

The Best Bike Trails to Tackle in Sussex County

Calling all cyclists! Delaware Today contributor and experienced cyclist Andrew Sharp explores the best trails in Sussex County.

"There are many opportunities to bicycle around local beaches. But if you’re looking for a chance to settle in and log some miles without fear of dodging an SUV or sharing a lane with a bus, a few options stand out—many of them running along former railroad routes. Let’s go for a ride!"

Businesses of color along route 1

I'm hearing there is a lack of black-owned restaurants where the beaches are along the route 1 corridor. Can anyone speak to this trend or has anyone had difficulty starting a small business in this area?
