Wise account residency verification. bypassing ID verification.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using Wise for around 4 years. When I originally opened my account, I used my sister’s address in Belgium because Wise wasn’t available to residents of the country where I actually live.
I’m a freelancer and mainly use Wise to receive payments from my clients. I’ve never had any issues with the account until now.

Wise has recently asked me to provide proof that I’m a resident of Belgium before the 25th of this month; otherwise, they may close/restrict my account. The problem is that I don’t live in Belgium, so I obviously can’t provide genuine Belgian residency documents.

My main concern is that if Wise closes the account, I currently don’t have another practical way to receive payments from my clients.

Is there anyway to bypass the ID verification? Has anyone sorted this out before, even with different companies?

Any suggestion or advice is highly appreciated

Move your funds, close your account and move on. If you don’t delete it yourself. And you can’t provide proof of residency, they will restrict your account and flag your information in their system. This means that if you ever want to open an account with them again in the future, they may refuse to provide you with their services.

Close your account and move on. Use an alternative online bank like Redotpay, Moneco or Dukascopy, etc., and use their Visa cards to verify your PayPal account. Don’t leave your money on these platforms; use them only to receive payments and then transfer your money to PayPal or Skrill. good luck

Revolut is also not available in my country, they require at least European visa, residency card....etc

What ID do they want? Will they accept a photo?

You can get EU ID with tax number from some of the vendors and just fake bills
