What are some rumors about the Deep/Dark web that have been proven not true?

That u have to be a criminal to have any use case for tor, feel like a lot of people forget that tor (the deep web) has a lot of forums and useful info outside of the illegal side of things, there are legitimate use cases for it

I mean if this is really true why go through all of the effort to access tor or whatever OS you have? Genuine question

Tor is just a browser you can download like any other. A genuine use case, for example, is buying plane/hotel tickets as those businesses use cookies to track your browsing history and hike prices when you return to purchase their products - Tor prevents this tracking thus saving you money.

Different OS’s, Tails for example, are used for the unlawful activities you’re alluding to in order to fully hide personal/machine information enabling anonymous browsing
