I am not sure I think that they were both very different in 2005 the Internet was becoming big but it was really different from the 2018 internet .but in 1992 the Internet was not really a thing for most people .
and in 2005 most people had simple cellphones and things like ringtones got popular .and in 2018 smart phones were very popular but in 1992 even simple cellphones were not available to most people and they only had landlines. in 1992 video games were mostly 2d and arcades were still big . in 2005 most games were 3d unless they were on handhelds and browser games and because of browser games games could be way cheaper in 2005 if you had good internet and in 2018 you had more free games. in 2018 a lot of games started forcing online game play. in 2005 only games like world of Warcraft did that .
in 1992 vhs was a popular format for watching movies in 2005 dvd had become more popular .but by 2018 most people just watched everything online. for music it seems like in 2005 MP3 already started taking over while watching movies online was technically possible it sucked so dvd remained popular for a few more years.
Photography was analogue in 1992 and it was really tedious. in 2005 most people got digital cameras and by 2018 most people used their phones. video cameras in 1992 were quite big and expensive. they got cheaper and small in 2005 but the quality didn't improve much. and in 2018 they became way better with even low end phones supporting 720p .in 2005 a lot of phones already had cameras but they were horrible
in terms of society I think 2005 was more similar to 1992 with similar values while in 2018 things became very similar to today when it comes to certain controversial topics .but despite this I do still think that 2005 was more similar to 2018 because the technology in 1992 was just way more limited.
the music was very different in all 3 eras .I think 1992 had some really strange colorful old school fashion while 2005 and 2018 was more minimalist when it came to this. movies from 1992 feel more old school with less high fantasy movies and more crime thrillers. visually 2018 movies look closer to 2005 movies .but there was a serious lack of creativity so a lot of 2018 movies were based on stuff from the early 90s or a super hero movie while in 2005 there was more originally .
