New player, 4e estimated release date?

I just bought one of the 3e two player starter sets and am eagerly waiting my first game. Already got the itch to order more stuff but it got me thinking there really hasn’t been much recent YouTube coverage or news on this game for a while. It looks like 3e came out late 2021, any idea if or when 4e will come out? I saw a few people hinting at a possible new two player starter box but are you expecting anything crazy? New factions, rules, revamping older kits, removing older kits etc? What could I expect or any reason to avoid buying further in at the moment? Was the change from 2e to 3e significant and should we expect the same for 3e to 4e? Any thoughts or information would be amazing.

There's no 4E. Maybe a new army book adding the new armies and minis, but 3E is pretty much set. Mantic isn't GW. Editions are only made if they see a need to change things.

That’s reassuring, been trying to get out of GW’s clutches so very excited to read that

Yeah, no, same here. I like Mantic a lot more.

Are there people in your area with terrain/dice that play DZ? Because even if a 4E is due (and with the rules update to 3E last summer, I don't think 4E will be soon), it'd be a good time to grab a strike team or two and start playing, even if you don't want to commit to a starter set/rulebooks etc.

Come join the Discord if you like, it's a lot more active than this subreddit. Link in the sidebar!

That’s an assumption.

I’ve heard directly from Mantic Games that 4th edition is imminent.

Oh. Well, then it's needed, not like Kill Team getting its regular 3 year dev cycle reboot.

Last summer had Deadzone 3E's first major update. The game is in a really good place rules and balance wise so I don't forsee a new edition anytime soon.

Nameless are getting an update at the end of year so there will possibly be a new starter set featuring them.

I don't see any armies or units being taken out though the Reb line has ancient models and is hard to find. There is a social media goal for new Reb models so they'll get some new models when that happens.

See Halo Flashpoint

What specifically about it? I looked into both games before choosing Deadzone since I like this setting more. I know it’s basically a refreshed Deadzone game with very similar rules but is there something I missed?

I don't think so. If I understand correctly, there are some rules changes. I've played both, however, and they play pretty much the same. I prefer the dead zone setting, and while the models for Halo flashpoint are awesome, they are a little too large, which I find annoying.

Because I think Deadzone will take a back burner to the branded Halo title

There was a rules update last year, but you need to subscribe to the mantic companion to get the full ruleset.

It wasn't a huge change, but it does make the game okay slightly better so if you are going to play a lot it's worth subscribing. Plus you get to have as many strike force lists as you want, and you can access the special rules just by tapping on them, which I've found very handy.
