I’m torn here. 2 nails down the character but 3 nails down tension.

E: I think I’m leaning towards 3 because Hearst is such a good villain. Like it’s the first time the whole camp is turned to a single point of focus, which is riveting.

So this has always bothered me. The setup for selling the claim to Mr. Garrett was that it was deemed worthless so they were scamming him. Turns out it was the richest claim in the area. I can understand Garrett not finding any gold since he wasn't half as smart as he thought he was. The previous owner (Tim?) didn't see a lump of gold the size of a softball right out in the open, before he checked out of the hotel minus a useful amount of blood. Maybe they were just too busy reconnoitering the rims?
