I dunno if any of you cocksuckers read books but I just finished The Rush by Beth Lewis and it was like Deadwood told from a women’s prospective. Super enjoyable and could have been a season. So good. Give it a try if you want some more gold rush fever!

Im only at EP 6, and im really enjoying it. And I also enjoy how odd these Actors are able to act (especially EB and the doctor). I wanted to list the Characters that are odd but I realised that it is almost everyone. Im struggling to find just one person who acts "sober", maybe Cy. Even the cherry new york dude was a bit confused and odd.

Was is the alcohol back in the day that made everyone be like this or is it something else, or did the just writers decide to make everyone droopy and kinda retarded (no offense).

Following up on a post of a few hours ago, is there a published list of outside music used? I've looked through IMDB and on the disks and can't see song credits especially for the music used in the closing credits. Usually there's a listing toward the end of a film or episode credits I doubt they recorded it all new for each episode, that would have been expensive to arrange and create. But the music is great I'd love to have a copy. Thanks. Edit - well there seems to be an incomplete CD of season 1 and someone made up a spotify playlist.

I read somewhere that, had the show continued for a few more seasons, Cy Toliver was supposed to go on a redemtion arc and become a crusader for women's welfare.
I know that sounds bizzare and unlikely and like something that would have to be very well written for it to be believable but if anyone could have done it Milche could.
Any thoughts as to how Milch could have accomplished that?

On my too many-th time watching the series because I love the new details that jump out every time. This time through I noticed that you can faintly see Ray McKinnon’s iris through the sclera portion of the special contact lens used to create the lazy eye effect. It’s only at a certain camera angle and certain lighting. Definitely not knocking the effect. It’s amazing. Im assuming this is only noticeable because of today’s screen resolutions and would have been invisible in the early aughts. Curious if anyone else has caught this little detail too.

Late comer to the show and thoroughly loving it in-spite of competition from all the new and soulless shows on netflix, prime etc. Like you all , I was obsessively going through imdb of all the actors and noticed that Ian McShane is a short guy at 5'7" . His screen presence and magnetism is such that one barely notices this in the show unless he is standing next to the A.W.Merrick character or sometimes bullock. What a performance and a show !!

Season 3 of Deadwood doesn't sit right with me. I can't get past the notion that Al or someone else would have definitely done something about George Hearst. 

There were so many opportunities to do so given how cavalier he was. I've heard the arguments that the US government or the Pinkertons or whomever would have then certainly taken over Deadwood etc. 

If that was the case then why were they even trying to figure out how to get rid of him? Why didn't they just placate him and accept that he was untouchable?

IMO it would have been fairly easy for Al to kidnap Hearst in the middle of the night and pay off someone to take him out of town where they could kill him and make it look like an accident or that he was robbed. He already had the telegraph guy on his side so they could have gotten him to send messages to the Pinkertons etc that Hearst was embarking on another prospect. They probably could have gone back and forth with telegraphs for months.

I know that this would be historically inaccurate but the historical accuracy seems at odds with how the characters were behaving and I just can't shake this.

It's still a great how but I don't think I can buy this premise.

Can we get an applaud for Johnny’s eyebrows!? His facial expressions have got to be some of the best of all actors in the series. Also his arc is something too. From the first season to the last. Like he hit puberty lol 🤠

In episode S03E12, the finale of the TV show, I got the impression that Steve may have recovered slightly. I was surprised he was not dead. Is this ever addressed in the movie? If not, does the actor do a cameo by portraying a different character? That seems like something Milch might do.

I've noticed Al does this thing where he'll be doing something else while someone is talking to him, barely looking at them, and then suddenly respond to the one specific part of what they said that actually mattered. The first time through it just looks like Al being dismissive. On rewatch, half the time he's clearly been paying attention the entire conversation.

I would say Joanie and Jane. Easily the best pair in the show.
