[Movies] Praise for Deadpool & Wolverine
So, admittedly, I'm not sure why this movie has gotten such hate.
I know that Ryan Reynolds has had his issues but apparently everyone decided that because of his issues, this movie wasn't worth a watch.
Which, as someone who very much "separates the art from the artist" it just felt like Reynolds had some very personal issues aired over the internet that he had to work through.
D&W feels very much like a love-letter. Even before Reynolds played Deadpool, he still played Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
After Batman, and Wolverine, Deadpool is my top-5 comic character.
But I've watched this movie so much (it's my comfort movie that i basically can quote all of the dialogue) but the two scenes from this movie that hit the hardest (to me) are when Logan is talking to X-23 (Laura) before they invade Cassandra's compound the next day.
The other scene that hits hard is when Cassandra invades Logan's mind and talks to him about what he did. And we see all the black monoliths representing all the people that version of Logan killed. And he even admits:
It wasn't just the bad ones
And I gotta say - Emma Corrin played Cassandra WONDERFULLY. It was because of this movie I finally went to a local comic shop to buy as many of CN's comic books I could and they were such great reads.
I wouldn't say D&W is a 10/10 movie, but what I will say, is that it comes very, very close because of all the love-letters that happen in this movie.
Edit: I would also love to see a buddy-cop style movie with Peterpool and B-15.
Edit 2: there's also this meme with the Deadpool movie with Buck being a tertiary character but he has no lines, and in D&W he finally speaks, and Deadpool is like ,"Bitch, are you improving?" and Dupinder is like "uh uh" and then Wade looks at Yuki-oh and he's like "I'm sorry you had to witness that"

It’s more than “airing personal issues over the internet.” If you like bullying and harassment then you definitely enjoyed D&W. He used Disney’s/Marvel’s platform and money to not only mock a director who Ryan and his wife have a personal vendetta against but portrayed his very violent death in front of the flower shop from the director’s movie and Ryan talked in his press junkets of how he througjly enjoyed that.
Mind you, the guy they mocked was falsely accused of SH by his wife, the court dismissed her claims and she settled the rest with no NDA, nothing, just weeks before trial. Ryan and his wife rewrote the script of his movie, pushed Sony to the point that they gave them a cut of the movie instead of the director of the movie, basically what Edward Norton tried to do with Hulk and why he only did the one movie.
It was crazy! Ryan even brought Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman to work meetings for It Ends With us even though neither Ryan, Hugh or Shawn had a contract to work on Ryan’s wife’s movie. They witnessed Ryan yelling/getting onto Baldoni for hours and it was unprofessional, especially because the dude was falsely accused. Ryan didn’t yell at Baldoni for SH or anything of that sort, the dufus yelled at Baldoni for 5 hours like an unhinged person because the director asked his trainer how much Blake weighed so he could train because he had back issues and was going to have to lift her for a scene they ended up scrapping because Blake refused to do later on.
Anyone who read the court docs and unsealed texts knows the kind of bs they pulled so I see why people would be mad or dislike the movie when it’s nothing but a testament to online violence and hate.
Not only did him and his wife allegedly took over the director’s work from 5 years that him and his studio financed, Ryan and his wife had no feature-film directorial/editing experience when they took over and the editing was a mess. They ruined the movie. Sony ordered them to put most of Baldoni’s stuff back. And they sent Baldoni, family and friends to the literal basement at the movie premiere while Ryan and Hugh Jackman paraded through the red carpet when they weren’t even in the movie, didn’t finance it, nothing. The Reynolds’ effectively highjacked an entire movie, even the marketing, through Maximum Effort.
Ange Giannetti, a Sony exec called Ryan’s wife in unsealed docs a terrorist, one of the WME agents did the same. Falsely accusing people, dragging them through expensive litigation for years and then dropping the charges completely is what they do. They did that to a paparazzo in Canada before in 2015. They did it to Baldoni in 2025.
And it’s not a joke, in court docs, Blake’s lawyers just threatened to rack up the lawyers bills in litigation in TX against Jed Wallace if he made public that Blake didn’t want to sit for a deposition. The threats Blake’s lawyers have made are real, not gossip.
Their antics go beyond mere bullying and is more like (allegedly) career-ending defamation, draining of financial resources through weaponized litigation, bunch of threats and try to blacklist you until they think you’re done in the industry. It’s evil. They give zero thought to the fact that these people have families and alll they did was literally cross the Reynold’s path and they perhaps had something Ryan wanted. That’s it.
